I am a MAD CUSTOMER of Sapulpa Rural Water Company. I would like to share my story with everyone who may have had dealings with this particular company. I want to start out by stating that I was behind on my water bill (I admit this!) in December (around the 20th) my second bill came due with the water company. I have three children and VERY little income right now due to a loss in my job. I was mailed a "PINK" Card that stated I had until December 31st, 2007 to pay my bill in full in December. Well, I had misplaced my "PINK" card and phoned in to the water company on Friday December 28th, 2007 around 2:30 to find out exactly what I owed so I could get caught up on my bill, at this time I was told that I would need to bring in a payment of $56.00 to bring my bill current. I told them that I would be bringing a payment by in full and drop it into the night deposit over the weekend (Which I did!). Today, is Wednesday January 2nd, 2008 and my water was turned off....yep that is right TURNED OFF. I phoned in to the water compant thinking it was a HUGE mistake and that they would be back to turn it back on once they had realized what they had done. I was informed at that point that whomever I spoke with on that Friday mis informed me and that my bill was $66.00 NOT $56.00 and that to get the water restored I would need to pay not only the measly $10.00 but a $75.00 RECONNECT fee! This was outrageous, I would now have to pay $85.00 over a $10.00 past due bill and they told me they made the mistake by telling me $56.00 and that there was NOTHING they could do about it and that it was my responsibilty to keep up with my bill so things like this would not happen. I am mad and crying at this point asking to speak to manager, I asked them why they did not call to inform me of a $10 difference and they informed me they do not call people, they ONLY send out a "PINK" card. I asked again to speak with a manager only to be told there is NO MANAGER...only three women working in the office and that the water compnay is ran by board of directors whom only meets once a month. SO, I had to go spend $85 over a $10 bill.....I am FURIOUS and I do not think this is right. I would have gladly came into to pay the $10 if they only would have called me, but I think they knew exactly what they were doing and wanted to make $75 ADDITIONAL dollars from me as a punishment for losing a cheap little "PINK" card. BEWARE of this company, they are NOTHING but a TOTAL RIPOFF and WILL NOT HELP YOU in any way, shape or form! If anyone else has had a problem with these careless, inconsiderate people, PLEASE post your thoughts and opinions! Thanks for reading my vent!!!!
