I was a driver trainee for schneider and i passed the school and driver instructor phase but it was not what i was told to be i was lied to. After i got my own truck i drove so long that my foot hurt and i call dispatch to tell them about it but they say it normal for begginer drivers. I then passed up my exit off I-70 and tried to make U-turn to turn around and go back to the exit and ran over the sign and scratched the trucks's side but i had to turn around it wasnt my fault and i told them that. After i unloaded (they made me wait an hour, then took another whole hour to unload) and i thought since i had been in school and finished it and gone through with the driver trainer and deliverd a load all by myself then i could get paid and get home time but they said no so i said i wanted to get paid and get hometime and then they wanted me to pay for the scratch on the truck and i said no and i told them i wanted home time and i am going to quit and they said fine drop off they truck at the terminal. know they charge me for school and a scratch on the truck and they say i left cigarette burns and coffe stains and they charge me for that too. I got hosed by schneider an i not done nothing wrong im not dumb they cant treat me like this what kind of company treat me like this? I go work for another company and get paid and get hometime someone else hire me because im a good driver but truck driving is hard i just thought since all truck drivers are fat that i could be one too and it would be easy thats what my mom said. schneider is a rip off dont work for them they dont apprecaite ther driver and dont get good hometime beware

Eugene, there is a certain image drawn from your posts

Eugene,

I hope you can take this in the constructive manner in which it is meant. The way you communicate in writing tells alot about yourself.
I am a truck driver also with over 1.5 million logged SAFE commercial miles. I can tell you that ANYTIME you run over a sign, it is your fault. You did not have your vehicle under control. You could have taken the next exit and turned off safely and come back to the point you missed. That sign could have been a person.

After what I have read, it sounds to me that an OTR trucking job is not for you. Typical hometime is 1 day for each week out, and most companies keep you out for 3-5 weeks at a time, sometimes more. And, most companies do not give you more than 3 consecutive days off without making you turn in the truck.

You screwed yourself by quitting. They paid to train you, and they did. Your contract says you will have to pay them back if you quit.

So your Mom said that most drivers are fat and the job is easy, and that's why you wanted to be a truck driver? Is your Mom a truck driver? It sounds to me that your Mom is misinformed, and I think you as a man should make your own decisions and be responsible for your own actions.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

time to grow up.

Eugene,

Being a truck driver means you are away from home for 2 to 3 weeks at a time, you get paid every friday from Schneider. If I read your complaint right you did attend Schneider Training you owe them the money for the training. I had two accidents when I was driving for them and not once did it come up that I had to pay for the damage. So I find it very hard to believe that they want you to pay for a scratch in there truck

As far as having to turn around that is normal thing to do when you miss your exit. Waiting an hour to be unloaded that is nothing try waiting 7 hours before they will even let you bump the dock then have a 2 hour unload time. Then you call an complain that your foot hurts after driving for a long time. Did you forget how to use the cruise control? Not quite sure how long you had been out but it seems that you were only out to make 1 pick up and delivery then you wanted hometime. Tell me you are joking.

Until you are out a month going from coast to coast an request hometime and don't get home for another 3 days quit your whining.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Eugene from Catfish Pond, AR. You sir are an idiot...

First of all, what kind of a man are you? I should become a trucker because my mom told me that it was a good idea. How stupid is that. Also, incase you were unaware, any truck that has a sleeper berth, (that little house on back with a bed in it) will stay out typically 2-3 weeks straight. I can drive 5 days straight without even blinking.

Now with that said down to business. I am a former driver for Schneider National. I was fortunate enough to find a pretty little lady to drive team with me, that made the 2-3 weeks out more "enjoyable".

When it comes to the directions that they send you over the qualcom, those were only suggested routing solutions. You, as the driver are in charge of finding your own way. You should have been more aware and used some common sense and not have put your faith blindly into their directions, they don't know everything and things change.

When it comes to the U-turn that YOU made, YOU should have been more aware of your vehicle and known that you were going to hit a stop sign.
I was deadheading, (driving with an empty trailer to real drivers) in Atlanta, GA on I-285 in rush hour in the rain. I locked the breaks when a moving van merged infront of me and came to an abrupt stop. I rear-ended him. You can say that it was his fault for merging too close to me, but in the end I took my licks and accepted it.

So my advice to you, if you decide to continue trucking(and I hope you don't) is that you MAN-UP and accept the fact that this is not a 9-5 job. It demands alot out of you and it requires a moderate degree of common sense. You need to be flexible and willing to take alot of s**t.
