SCM Microsystems - Dazzle Creator 80 ripoff consumer fraud ripoff Fremont California

This is part of a letter that was sent to SCM Corporation on their Dazzle Creator 80 and it's fraudulent statements on the box:

I have a business transferring home movies to DVD. We just wanted it simple and efficient. We did a lot of research on types of devices. and talked extensively with my brother who is the video technician of the largest hospital in Carmel, IN. He video tapes surgeries and transfer the tapes to DVDs. We investigated all of the devices on the common market and did decide Creator 80 was the best way to start.

We were convinced by statements on the outside of the packaging that it would do for us what we needed, which was quick transferring. We have no complaint on the Creator 80. Our problem is with the compatibility of the device with the software that was included. Your technician on the the help line DID inform us that the software was not fully tested with a USB device prior to going on the market.
(WE HAVE THIS ON OUR ANSWERING MACHINE)

Again, our concern with transferring video is that it is simple, quick, and efficient. Dazzle incorporates DVD COMPLETE to capture video from a VCR as stated on your packaging. However, once the software was installed, the QUICK DVD WIZARD will not capture directly from CREATOR 80. The program crashes on every attempt. This is a direct (CASE OF FRAUD) to the statements on the packaging.

Only until after we opened the box, tried to use it for many hours(DAYS), and then (WERE REFERRED) to your site for troubleshooting, did we find out that in fact it does not do what the packaging claimed (AT ALL). On one of our calls to your support center,(40 some dollars worth) the technician told me that DVD COMPLETE will not work with the USB device to directly capture from any video device; that IT WILL CRASH EVERY TIME(YOUR WORDS). Prior to discussing this with your technician, my fiancee spent hours, and I do mean hours(DAYS REALLY), installing different drivers from Windows 2000 and other fixes in an attempt to have DVD COMPLETE not to crash whenever we tried transferring. She was stumped on why DVD COMPLETE would not capture.

Once it was discovered that DVD COMPLETE will not work with CREATOR 80 on a direct transfer, your technician told us that the only way we can achieve our goal simply and quickly IS WITH MORE EXPENSIVE DEVICES offered by DAZZLE. You also mentioned the same solution to my fiancee, Mary. This is clearly a BAIT AND SWITCH SITUATION.

Due to the lack of compatibility, I lost a tranfer job ($350). I had to transfer a 4 hours wedding video to DVD. I had a deadline before the client left for Europe wanting to take the DVD with him. I also lost any further business with him due to not making the deadline. My monetary loss is $350.(AND 40 DOLLARS IN PHONE CALLS AND THEN HIS FURTHER BUSINESS).

YOU assured us that you are a reputable company and we will receive COMPENSATION. (WE HAVE THESE STATMENTS ON OUR ANSWERING MACHINE). These are your words. All we ask was to be upgraded to your tower and that your software technicians create a fix as opposed to putting in a claim for $350 in a humble attempt to meet you halfway. Working with your product and dealing with different members of your staff for over a month has been nothing short of a nightmare. (YOUR LATE RETURNED LETTER STATES A DIFFERENT PROMISE... WE WILL GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK FOR THE PRODUCT...LIARS!!!)
