In May 2007 I purchased a Reef Aquarium light fixture from them. A few months later it started getting very loud. I tried cleaning the fan but it kept getting louder. On 1.4.2008 I contacted them via email and was told: Clean it and lubricate the fan unit. Contact us is that doesn't help and we can replace it!

I cleaned and lubed it but still nothing so I contacted them and requested more information. They replied: Remove and ship us the faulty fan and we will ship the replacement once we receive the faulty one. On 1.8.2008 I shipped the fan to them and have delivery confirmation of receipt at their facility on 1.9.2008. I waited a week and called to inquire. I was told: We received your fan but the replacement comes directly from the manufacturer and you should have it soon.

A few more weeks and I tried emailing repeatedly but it kept bouncing back (I was merely clicking on the CONTACT US link on their website). Finally I called and told them about the email and NO fan. I was informed "Email has been working fine and FAN was shipped to you. It will be there soon!"

Couple more weeks and I send emails. No response. Finally on 3.6.2008 I send an email titled "Last Attempt" which stated I was tired of waiting and tired of no response. If I don't get something back from them I will contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint.

Here is the reply (which is now coming from an entirely different email domain than before): "Coralife sent a new fan out to you, and they have delivery tracking that clearly shows it was delivered a month ago, furthermore, we responded to your email last week with this exact same response. Please make sure no one else received your package as we have already replaced your fan.

So I ask for "Said delivery confirmation" because it's possible it was delivered and is just "missing" at work or on my porch. NOTHING from them. So I file my complaint but I also contact the manufacturer myself. They are shocked over this because they say they have NO RECORD of any of this event let alone shipping me a replacement fan! They are eager to help even though the actual company selling the product is NOT helping. They ship me a fan and confirm they haven't heard anything from SeaCorals.

Here is the letter FROM the manufacturer: "I can find no record of Sea Corals contacting us for any parts. I've searched as deep as I have the ability to. I've searched our emails and nobody in the office recalls speaking with anybody at SeaCorals or shipping you a replacement fan. I really hope you can get this issue resolved but I'm afraid I can't be much help to you." Now that's FROM The manufacturer's tech support team.

SeCorals rebuts my claim by providing a "Tracking #" and stating that they have offered for me to "Return the whole fixture for replacement". The IRONY is the tracking # is my ORIGINAL tracking # when I bought the unit in May of 2007. To this day the have NOT provided a VALID tracking # for the replacement fan. When I rebutted their statement on the BBB website and "called them" over the tracking # they claimed (openly online now) that:
"Disagree completely. We stand behind all of our products. We clearly have sent valid tracking. Buyer has changed the dates numerous times to clearly make their story work to their benefit. (This time, however, it has backfired, if the fan was sent back in January, and delivered in May, as stated in the rebuttal, then the unit was out of its 6 month warranty). " Bologna!!

Well that's all there is! the GOOD news is that the actual manufacturer DID step up and replace the fan IMMEDIATELY in lieu of the crappy customer service one of their vendors is giving on Coralife's products! I wouldn't let them sell a dog-bone for my company! I wouldn't want to have ANYTHING of mine associated with a company that is now regularly giving poor customer service!!!

Save your money and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! It will be money well SPENT ANYWHERE else but with SeaCorals
