We contracted with Sears Home Improvement in April 2014 to replace the countertops in our townhouse kitchen - a typical U-shape configuration.  Our sales lady told us how great their services where, how they stand behind their work, how the  contractors who work for Sears Home Improvement went through a very stringent application to be considered and hired by Sears to be a contractor.  Banking on Sears reputation and the thought that we would be getting the best installation and product we signed the contract.  The cost for the granite countertops was around $6,600. 

The workers who installed the countertops we both under 30  years old - very young. I wondered then how such young men could have passed the so called rigorous application to be a certified contractor.  When the countertops were installed and I took my first look, I was not satisfied with how they looked.  There was a line around all the sides - two pieces of granite glued together.  I told them I was not expecting that did not like it.  I hesitated signing the paper but they said it was to show that the product had been installed.  My husband and I had looked at counterops in many different stores and have NEVER seen a line or two gluded pieces.  We were NOT told about this and it was definitely not was we were expecting.

I called the project manager and also took pictures and sent them to her.  She didn't have a good attitude and put me off.  My calls were sometimes not returned and bottom line, I got no follow up service from them.  No one came out to look at what I was complaining about.  I talked with managers, etc. who were going to look into it.  NOT!

It's been almost 2 years since we've had the countertops installed.  I pay $100/per month and still owe $5,500. Every month I get the bill I get angry because it was SO not worth it and I feel ripped off.  Especially when I see home renovations shows on TV and they're putting in granite countertops in much larger kitchens at costs well under what we paid for our small kitchen.  To top it off, we got brown granite and the granite is not pretty - it never sparkles or looks clean. We've never had a compliment on them, wonder why?

I would NEVER have Sears Home Improvement to anything for me.  I am disappointed in the Sears guarantee of satisfaction and customer service.
