Here goes my story.

On 2/22/03 i go to the SEARS repair office in BOWIE, Md. to drop off my vacuum for repairs. I try to operate the grey info. machine in the repairs reception area, i am not able to b'cos there is no repairs icon on that computer, so i wait for assistance.

A man comes out of repair office with an item for another customer(pick-up) so i ask him how to use the machine, he punches return in the computer and gives me a receipt with his initials on it. I ask why it has return when i had come in for repairs, he says not to worry and that he will state repairs since there was no repairs icon on the computer. I leave.

On Thursday (3/13/03) after work i call the Bowie repairs office to find out why i had not heard from them regarding my vacuum? A ladys says b'cos it takes 2-3 weeks, and so i tell her that it is 3 weeks since i brought my vacuum in, she says to hold on and gives me to her supervisor. He asks for my name and then tells me that all the repairs were not done and that he wants to send it in again to repair the broken part, i tell him that my vacuum did not have a broken part, he asks for my number and name again and tells me, that he had mistaken me for another person and b'cos our names were similar.

So i ask if my vacuum was in, he tells me that they do not even have me in the system for having an item brought in for repairs and that to come into the store with the repairs receipt that was given to me.

On Friday my day off (3/14/03) about 1.15pm i drive up to the store, ask two sales associates where to go for dispute about pickup, he James( an assistant manager) shows me where the office is and asks a gentleman there to assist me, he intend calls John to help me. John (the supervisor i had spoken to Thursday) apologises for the inconvinence and tells me he will have vacuum replaced in a minute just needed managers sign. After a few minutes a woman BONNIE(manager) walks in ignores me and tell the gentleman that nothing can be done with my receipt b'cos its a receipt from another store.

So i say excuse me, WHAT do you mean by this was returned to another store? And what STore would that be? She tells the gentleman to look it up and walks away. He comes back to tell me that the receipt was for a store in NEW HAMSPHIRE! I was shocked and told him to call the BONNIE. I tell BONNIE that i brought the vacuum into this BOWIE store and explain that it was for a repair. She tells me that she is sorry she cant help me b'cos the receipt slip i have is not for her store, i tell her that this is impossible and that i have never been TO or NEAR NEW HAMPHIRE. She attempts to walk off and i start to shout and tell her that i am not leaving the store w/o my vacuum. She asks me what i want her to do, she has not even looked in the computer at this pt. to see if there has been a mistake.

I tell her to look in the system, she does and does not see my purschase slip nor warranty, i had to call the warranty office to get all info. needed. She still can't help me b'cos i have a New Hampshire recepit she says. She decides to call NEW HAMPSHIRE and they tell her they dont have any records and that they will look further. So BONNIE tell me to go home and wait. I say i dont think so, and that she is looking in the wrong place.

I tell BONNIE that maybe we shd start with people who worked on that day since there is an initial on the receipt, she says that is impossible and that they do not keep records of that, ok, i ask if the initials on the receipt is familiar to her, she claims its not, I ask where a repair will be sent to, she claims that she has called that office and they do not have any record of my vacuum. They do not have any vacuum( KENMORE UPRIGHT VACUUM) to be exact showing, which is the type of vacuum i own.

BONNIE is weary of me b'cos apparently, with the return slip/receipt i was holding i could have gone to a cashier and had a refund done. I did not even know that you could return an item purchased in 8/27/01 and return it for cash in 2003. I tell her that if i had taken the receipt and gotten cash, it shd at least be in their system, which was not b'cos i have not done that.

After been there for about 2.30 hrs with no progress i ask if they have a camera in the recp. area which would at least prove that i had been there(BOWIE and not NEW HAMPHSIre) on 2/22/03. She lets me speak to a WONKNOCCA (in charge of security camera) who claims it takes 24hrs to review IF they still have a tape as far back as 2/22/03. I say ok and that i would call back Saturday to see what they have, WONKNOCCA is the only person trained to reviews tapes and she didnt work this weekend so i would have to wait till Monday to hear anything from them.

I don not understand why i would be treated like a fraudster for going for what is legally mine. What makes me so mad is that i purchased (10) appliances for my house from SEARS and its all under warranty and in their system, why would i come and lie about a vacuum?

So until Monday the 17th, i would not be able to vacuum my house or know what happened to my vacuum. HOW can a Vacuum cleaner VANISH into thin air , and HOW CAN I HAVE A NEW HAMSPHIRE RECEIPT WHEN IN MARYLAND? WHY DO I HAVE TO SUFFER FOR SEARS' NEGLIGENCE? OR IS IT A NEW TYPE OF CRIME HAPPENEING? PEOPLE BE VERY CAREFUL OF ITEMS YOU TAKE IN FOR REPAIRS, REVIEW ALL RECEIPTS CAREFULLY.

Well i got a call(message) on Monday from Bonnie that they had viewed the tapes and i was indeed at the Bowie store and she can't explain why it said New Hampshire on the receipt. They had shipped it out and they couldn't get it back so they were going to replace my vacuum.

Wonknocca the security manager called and i spoke to her, explained that it had been shipped out and took a bit of time register on their system, they had viewed the tape and the vacuum had been received by 1 of their temporary workers. She said to come in and choose a vacuum up to $169 which was about the price of the vacuum i had sent in.

I went in today, Tuesday, i didnt see any vacuum i liked so i was given a gift certificate for that amount.

So thank you Wonknocca for your help and thanks to Calvin who called twice today to find out how things were going. I do not have much to say about Bonnie, just that i think she should go for management refresher courses and asked to go for anger managemeny classes as well!

I wake up at 5am on Saturday(3/15/03). I am still very angry from the events of the day before, i know that no one is willing to help and so if i really want to have my house vacuumed i better make some calls to find out what is going on and also report my incident of the day to upper management if i can find 1.

I start by calling 1-800-4-My-Home, i tell them i am trying to trace my vacuum, i am adviced to called Whirlpool which is supposed to be the makers of KENMORE. I didnt even know that so i learn s'thing new. I call them they are closed, its a bit too early.

So i get online, thank God for computers and telephones. I go to the Kenmore page to find anything on Kenmore Vacuums, they take me to the purchase site which is not what i am looking for. I come across the "send us email" page. I was so happy , i type my story and send it. I surf the net some more and then call Whirlpool back. I am told that they do not deal with small items like vacuums and that i would have to get in touch with the Store, back to square 1.

I wait a few hours and call the 1-800-4-my-home to find out if anyone could tell where a return or repairs would be sent to and how i can trace an item or why i would have a NH recepit if i am in Maryland. They are all not able to help me and advice me to call the store.

At about 12.30pm i call the 1-800-4-my-home again(at this pt i feel like i can dial this numbers even in my sleep) a lady picks up and i tell her that this whole thing is ridiculous. She advices me to call customer relations(retail dept) and this is when i meet Calvin.

I summarize the events of the day b4 to Calvin and he decides to call the store and try and speak to the Operations Manager. Calvin tell me that BONNIE picks up and says she is the Manager, the only 1 on duty. He comes back with the same info. that i had told him, at this point i am really fuming b'cos i have been on the phone for about 45 mins and he comes backs and says BONNIE says to wait till monday and that there was nothing she could do.

I tell Calvin that is some bull b'cos he was the same person who told me that the right procedure would be to give me a vacuum while investigation was going on, so why would he come back now and tell me to wait till Monday, he tells me that BONNIe was not been helpful and that there was nothing he could do. So i ask him if he would let "1 small lousy manager" make SEARS loose a customer of 5 yrs?

He knows better so asks me to hold on again, he comes back after about another 20 mins with Carol, who claims she was from the NEW HAMPSHIRE store and that i was not in her system. I tell her "of course i am not in her system, i have never been to NH B4". She tells me how sorry she is and that if i had come to her store, she would have replaced my vacuum, and that my vacuum may have been misplaced in their BOWIE's warehouse. This is news to me. BONNIE never told me about their warehouse. i learn s'thing new again.

So when Carol gets off the phone, Calvin apologises and tells me there is nothing more he can do than send an email to the regional manager. I ask for the address so i can send him an email too, but he claims he is not sure who the manager is and that i shd go to sears.com and send an email there. If he does not know who the regiona manager is, how would he send him mail? hmmmm

I get off the phone with Calvin at about 3pm,another half of the day on the phone with no solution. I sit here and tell myself to calm down and not let that bi.ch and SEARS mess up my day and beautiful weekend.

So i will be here on Monday waiting to hear from BONNIE and the Security lady WONKNOCCA, they better have s'thing good or all hell will break loose and that is a promise!
