Sears ripoff cheat dishonest lie They are no better than a pack of thieves. Laguna Hills California

In July of 2003, I purchased a 57 Projection TV from Sears of Laguna Hills, California. At the time, they were offering a rebate of $79.99 that applied when both a qualifying TV and a qualifying DVD Player were purchased. I purchased both of these items on July 24, 2003.

However, after receiving the salesperson's promise that the rebate would arrive in the mail within seven to fourteen days, the entire month of August passed without any check in the mail. As I had already checked and re-checked the online rebate tracking system at www.trackmyrebate.com, which still showed my rebate status as fulfilling reward, I decided to further contact Sears in order to find a reason as to why my rebate had not be sent.

I called Sears, only to be told to wait another two weeks. This continued for several months, as I continually contacted Sears personnel and management in order to find out where my rebate was. Finally, I became fed up with their procrastinating and decided to contact their corporate offices.

On February 18, 2004, I reached a representative who promised to resend a check to me within ten to fifteen days. This check should have arrived by March 4. However, the check never arrived. The very next day, I called again, and reached another representative, who requested a special check that would be delivered within ten to fifteen days. She also gave me a tracking number and a check number in order to ensure that I would receive my rebate in a timely fashion.

Once again, the check never arrived. On March 24, I called again, only to find that no check had been sent, and to yet again receive a promise of another check. As before, nothing ever arrived. On April 13, I called another representative who promised to deliver a check within 15 days. As of yet, no check has been delivered.

I have wasted so much time and effort to help them resolve their mistake, and have received only lies and deceit in return. I would not pursue this matter for the sum of $79.99 were it not for Sears' apparent lack of customer appreciation. Their total lack of any decency in handling this situation has implored me to file a complaint with the intent of teaching them the basic skill of respect.

I do not feel it morally responsible for such a large company to simply ignore the needs of its customers, cheat them with false rebates, and most especially, to lie to those same customers. Sears has wasted too much time and effort of the people they supposedly serve. The time I have expended on simply getting my money back is enormous. Sears obviously lacks any common decency regarding rightful property. They are no better than a pack of thieves. Furthermore, many of my friends have also reported similar cases of outright thievery and cheating. I strongly suggest that you never buy anything from Sears.
