I had ordered a washer and refrigerator from sears.com Mar 9, 2011, and Sears.com immediately deducted the amount of the sale that day.   The products were not in stock, so the store canceled my order, said they would refund my purchase price, and I could re-order when items were in stock.  Sears told me that my account (debit) would be credited the full amount within 3-5 days. They said that the refund would "show up" at my financial institution within 72 hours.   It did not.  I spoke with Sears customer service, and was again reassured that I would receive my refund credited to my account within 3-5 days and was told by Sears Rep; "Please do not worry."

Still no refund, so I contacted Sears Customer Service again, and was told that NOW it would be 7-10 days.  When I asked why the discrepancy between 3-5 days, and now 7-10 days, I was told that if the order was a "mailable item", the refund time is 3-5 days, and if it is a large item (like a washer and refrigerator), the time would be 7-10 days.  I have called and written Sears customer Service repeatedly, and all I get from them is to please give them time to resolve this issue.  They said that they issued a credit in the amount of 393.64 for the washer, and 411.54 for the refrigerator on March 12th, which would be credited to my account.

It still isn't there.  I called Sears again today, March 20th, and was told, "please give us 4-5 business days to resolve this issue."     I asked why they needed an additional 4-5 days added to the time they have already had.  I can see that either they had no intention of refunding my money (like other victims of Sears have suffered here), or they just don't really care.  If it only takes Sears.com ten seconds or less to take the funds out of your account, why does it take days, weeks or months, if ever, to get it back?  Surely it is a simple matter of reversing the charge?

I will NEVER do business with Sears.com, or any Sears brick and mortar store EVER again.  I am filing a complaint against them at the Internet Crime site ic3.gov and with the Better Business Bureau as well.  My bank said that if the amount is not returned to my account by Sears by March 22, 2011, they will file a dispute against Sears. com   I am telling everyone I know just what business practices and ethics Sears operates by, and none of them are good.  They are dishonest.  Their Customer Service is a joke.
