I will not bore you with details of being riped off, I understand and feel your pain. I have been there. What's done is done. There is one company out there that will save you hundreds of dollars.
Security Academy of New York is a professional company that will give you all your training for $400. I got six certificates for $400....no kidding, these people are for real. I got my 8hr, 16hr, fire guard, metal detection, loss prevention and anti terrorism for $400 in one week.
They are totally legit...they also applied for my security guard license for me...which I recieved two weeks ago.

Security Academy of New York Displays all the Signs of a Scam

This really made me laugh. Security Academy of New York is legitimate and only charges $400.00 for 6 certificates. That's great. The only problem is that the 8-hour pre-assignment course and the 16-hour on-the-job training course are the only courses required for the NYS security license. Those other courses are totally bogus, especially the Fireguard Course. Security Academy of New York CAN NOT issue a Fireguard license - only FDNY issues this certification. Anyone looking to become a Fireguard has to go to the FDNY headquarters in Metrotech, Brooklyn, Monday - Friday from 9AM - 2PM and pay $25 to take the test on a computer screen. Anyone can access the study materials for this test on the FDNY website
