When it becomes clear that you are a savvy customer who is not going to be confused or duped into something you don't want, representatives of AMP security systems will flat out lie to you.

I was told several times that the fees I would be accountable for are a one time $99 fee, a $27 permit fee, and then my monthly fee of $47.99 a month. I was also told several times, and this is where they will claim that I was just confused, that if I send a voucher in to my insurance company, that I would get a discounted home owner's insurance rate AND a discounted monthly rate with AMP. When I sent in the voucher to my h*o insurance, my discount was $14 a year, which is quite a bit less than the 5 - 10% that AMP told me it would be. When I inquired about the discounted monthly rate with the company, the rep told me that the monthly fee is fixed with AMP, and where I save the money is through the insurance company. This is not what was flat out told to me (i'm not kidding) 6 times when they were in my home. This is exactly what he said, "When you send in the voucher, you get a discounted rate with your insurance company, then if you contact us and let us know you've sent it in, your monthly payment will go down to $37.99 a month."

There's nothing confusing about that. It's just a flat out lie.

Here's the real kicker though. It was explained more than once what the fees are that I'm responsible for, and that I have 5 days to decide if I want to keep the service. Everything was fine for the first 5 days, but on the sixth day, AMP took $147.99 out of my checking account. This fee was not explained, and certainly not anything I agreed to or signed for. Gee, isn't that convenient how the fee gets posted only after the allowed time to discontinue service? Now, when I try to contact AMP they will not respond, and since it's the 6th day, they will not allow me to cancel the service and get the alarm out of my home.

I guess it's a good thing for me that we have attorneys in the family. Do not listen to this company. They are liars. They will take your money and tell you completely different things every time you talk to them.

how did you get out of this agreement

AUTHOR: Rachel - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, July 10, 2017

Hello,

I too am having issues with AMP security and would love to get out of it. I have been with them for a year and recently had an incident where it was obvious they have no cusytomer service relations or care to remedy any issues. I told them I wanted reconcilliation or out of the contract and was given two ways to get out; pay $1,250.00 or give my equipment to another person and they take over the fee of $55.00/month for 4 more years. I told them I was going to join Peace Corps and was told that was a volunteer service - so the most they could do was postpone my payment schedule for 6 months. Would love to know how you got out of your agreement with them.  Please help. My email address is fiddlinholley@gmail.com

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 08, 2011

I had similar problem. I call them to cancel like the 6 month, which at the time the guy who sold me the system told me I had 6 month to decided if I want to keep it or not. When I call one rep. Told me I only had 3 somewhat day from the day I sign up for...what? After that conversion, I make payment one more month then that was it for like almost two years now and at the time I don't remember sign up for automatic withdrawal from my account but I send check...now all suddenly they begin withdrawal money from my account after almost two year unnotice whatsoever...I move into a different place, no longer live in the rental place, and wants to know how I can cancel it. They send me no notice or whatsoever payment information or anything that say they gonna withdrawal money from my account. If anyone knows how let me know. I hate being lie to especially for this kind of serious stuff...NEVER EVER SIGN UP FOR DOOR CANVASSING CAUSE THEY WILL LIE TO GET THEIR HANDS ON YOUR POCKET.

AMP alarm system

AUTHOR: Jana - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, May 10, 2010

I have an AMP alarm system. The system works really good, never failed comparing to ADT, who seems to be in trouble right now..:). I had problems with AMP customer service in the past, but it seems they are getting a better training or some individuals are being replaced with more qualified sales people. Chelsey Ellison helped me a lot to resolve my problems with AMP and I'm actually satisfied what she had done for me. I would recommend working with her if anyone has any problems or not happy with AMP alarm system.

AMP Alarm

AUTHOR: Chelsey Ellison | AMP Customer Advo - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 23, 2010

My name is Chelsey Ellison, I am the Customer Advocate at AMP Alarm. I want to apologize if you have had a negative experience with AMP Alarm. We care about our customers and would like to help you. I was not there when you and our Representative had verbal communication. To protect our customers from any misunderstandings we put everything that we ensure into the agreement that you signed, as well as do two recorded phone calls to verify that you and the company are under the same understanding.

Concerning the Insurance discount. Unfortunately, our Representative had no way of knowing the exact amount that your insurance company would compensate you for. Different insurance companies very in their percentages. I know that this does not help your situation.

Regarding the charge for $147.99 out of your checking account, that was for the first month of monitoring and the activation fee. The charge was explained in the agreement as well as in the two recorded phone calls. We do not wait to post it until after your trial period, and I apologize that it appeared that way. The payment is run on the day of installation, depending on your account this can take a few days to go through.

I would like to be able to help ease your situation and discuss a resolution that will satisfy you as a customer.

Please contact me at 801-734-7008.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Chelsey Ellison | Customer Advocate | AMP Alarm

It all adds up if you do the math

AUTHOR: Mikem - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 17, 2009

I was reading this rip-off report and the representative told you that you would be charged a one time 99$ dollar activation and a monthly fee of 47.99$ which added together would give you 146.99 as your first payment. So that would be the first withdrawal. As far as a discount on your insurance I have a system and it does give me a 15% discount on my homeowners insurance so the company ripping you off is not AMP it is your insurance company. Now, not to discredit you but if you could not understand that 99$ and your first month would be an initial withdrawal of 146.99 then it makes me nervous to take your word that he told you the company would apply a discount on top of your insurance discount. What I assume happened is that he told you with a normal discount you would be paying right around 40$ dollars a month out of pocket because a reasonable discount would reduce your insurance 5-10$ a month. If you did not understand that, maybe you and the representative had a mis-communincation. Did it say anywhere in the agreement that YOU SIGNED that the rate would be discounted to 37.99$...I am surprised that you filed a report in which you show how all the math adds up and then say that someone told you things that were not in the agreement you signed. Lesson to be learned GET IT IN WRITING!!!
