Sedgwick Claims Management Services is the administrator for AT&T Integrated Benefits Plan. This company is saving AT&T millions of dollars at the expense of AT&Ts most valued assets, its employees.
My wife has been with AT&T for 30 years. In those thirty years of service she had to use sick days on 2 occasions. Once for the birth of our daughter and once for a partial hysterectomy. In her thirty years of service she has always had above excellent performance ratings. She has given her heart and soul to AT&T.
Now, that my wife needs a little, help alongs come Sedgwick CMS to put a knife in her back. These people at Sedgwick CMS have taken away in 3 months what my wife has worked all her life for. She went to see our family physician, told her how she felt and her doctor prescribed medication and told her to stay home for 3 weeks. My wife applied for sick pay because she had become severly depressed. This is when the horrors of dealing with Sedgwick started.
The diagnosis of our family doctor was not written the right way,was never enough information, was not received on time, was lost etc. and she was denied her sick pay. We asked from Sedgwick for the basis of their denial and to this day have not recieved an answer of why. She filed an appeal for benefits. She went thru the AT&T EAP (employee assistance program), she needed help and was asking AT&T to please help her.
They told her to seek a professional Dr. of Psychiatry. She did just that and was diagnosed with severe depression. From Sept 4 of 2008 till Dec. 12 when my daughter called me at work to hurry home because her mother couldnt breathe after the phone call from Sedgwick denying her sick pay, Sedgwick has lied, bullied, violated her human rights and pushed my wife to the brink of a nervous breakdown.
They stated that when she first went out sick,she really wasnt sick enough to miss work and that she has made her depression worse herself. Sedgwick is the judge,jury, doctor and executioner. For 3 months they have lied, missed deadlines, said they didnt receive medical records that were sent, always ask for more but wont tell you what, wont reurn phone calls, lie again, put off, delay etc.
Sedgwick has told us from the very first denial that we can always file a lawsuit. They knew that no matter how much medical evidence we provided, they were going to deny her claim even before we started the appeal process.
When they called to tell us they were denying her appeal they were the most hateful and unprofessional that anyone could be.
My wife brokedown and couldnt even believe what they told her. While my wife was crying her eyes out and couldnt breathe the Sedgwick rep. Susan ? (cold hearted b***h), told my wife that if my wife was so concerned about paying her bills she(my wife) should gather herself up and get her a** back to work.
We had contacted the Department of Labor who is trying to help but Sedgwick who thinks they are above the law wont even return the DOLs phone calls. Every dog has their day and I think the time has come to put an end to Sedgwick CMS wilfull violations of human rights.
