SEE Marketing is a newly formed company that tries to recruit people without sales experience.  They specifically target young college students who are seeking employment, via job boards such as Monster.com, Simply Hired.com and CareerBuilder.com. The reason for this is that they realize some students would be willing to take any job.

I was contacted by SEE Marketing's supposed human resource manager Tia Karon. Tia told me that SEE was looking for retail account managers for their client DirectTV. The problem is that this company (and its "parent company" Shore Thing Marketing) deliberately deceive applicants into working for their company. The job does not entail dealing with DirectTV customers and managing their accounts. Rather it, like many other marketing schemes, involves going door to door or business to business selling products and services.

I went to an interview and later I was told I had a second interview scheduled. This is how all multi-level marketing schemes work. They guarantee applicants a job position and have applicants sale products for little to no pay. Marketing companies such as SEE tend to have a very questionable history, a poor reputation and shady business strategies.  Even worse, its very difficult to trace marketing companies to their "parent" company, since the promoted employees venture off to open their own multi-level marketing company in a new location and with a different name.

SEE is one of those companies. Derek Gawrys, Tia Karon and Chip Albert came to Houston, TX in a vain hope of continuing this elaborate pyramid scheme started by Shore Thing Marketing. Pyramid companies recruit people, have them go door to door everyday, promote them, have the promoted recruits hire new applicants and encourage the promoted recruits to venture out and open up a new "division" in a new location. All this so the "founder" can enjoy ever growing profits from each "division" of the "parent company" from the sale of lousy products, such as discount coupons.

The best course of action is to avoid any and all marketing companies like SEE or Shore Thing Marketing. They are not worth anyone's time and effort.

No Job Tom?

AUTHOR: Eddie - ()

Tom, I take it you did not get the job? And if not how can you pretend to know so many details about SEE Marketing? It sounds like sour grapes to me.

I'm not buying it, friend

AUTHOR: Chris - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 01, 2013

I'm the one who posted the report. I'm here to tell you squarely that I am not buying your BS. You are nothing more than a shill for SEE Marketing.

Here's a question for you. If you were so confident about the legitimacy and legality of SEE then why did you come to Ripoff Report looking for complaints about this company? I'm not likely to waste my time looking for Ripoff Reports of legitimate businesses like Colgate, Chevy automobiles or Chase banking! Nor is anyone else.

It's because you are a pyramid scheme insider, and you are trying to deter people from not applying and working at your pyramid company. You and I know that your company operates by selling products business to business. You said it yourself in your post! And you and I both know you need to extend your downline to keep money going and to keep the pyramid in tact.

Any fool can look at SEE's slapdash website and know right off the bat that your company isn't a legitimate or longstanding business. Compare the unprofessional appearance of your company's website to the professional appearance of any major corporation's webpage. That is but ONE major red flag. That's evidence that SEE just appeared in Texas recently, as a "child" of Shore Thing's pyramid scheme.

You also said something about profits? Well there's a difference in profiting from a legal, legitimate business operation and profiting from an illegal pyramid scam masquerading as a legitimate, legal multi-level marketing company. Tell me, where does your income primarily come from? Selling Direct TV products and services or from recruiting new distributors? If it's the latter, then you are definitely involved in a pyramid scheme.

SEE Marketing is a positive environment focused on leadership development

AUTHOR: Supergrad - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, December 31, 2012

I just finished my 1 month paid internship with SEE Marketing and wanted to take the time to respond to this posting since I had read it before I started with SEE Marketing. Have you seen the commercial where they say "I know it's true cause I saw it on the internet"...'who told you that the internet is always right'..."The internet".

There are a multitude of discrepancies in this post I wanted to take time to clarify. Although I have no vested interest in SEE Marketing at this point until I finish college I still feel that sites like this exist for people to know the truth, not write a fictional tale made up by people.

SEE Marketing does Retail Event Promotions with existing as well as new Directv customers. They DO NOT do Door to Door or Business to Business. Although there is nothing wrong with those lines of work, I have no idea why this person completely made this information up. They have never done door to door and will never do it either. They operate inside big retail stores in Houston representing the brand of Directv, and I have to say they do it with integrity. I was trained by 5 people in my month there and not one single time did one of their Account Managers lie to a customer. They were straightforward and honest about every interaction whether the detail was about contracts or any negatives associated with having Directv.

They also have no parent company and no association with any other companies except Directv. I don't know why this person is rambling on about generalities but they are a sole proprietorship meaning they are a single functioning business entity with no parent company or scheme involved.

The funny part about the last paragraph of the report is how this person says "in an ever growing effort to make profit"....ummm isn't this a capitalist economy and society? Isn't everyones goal to make money and create a good life for themselves? I would have to guess this person is just bitter they were one of the people who didn't make it past training, which from what I've seen is only due to lack of effort since the training is incredibly simple and most people are able to acquire a customer on their first day of training.

As far as my experience here I found people here to be a community of people with a culture of integrity and development. They were always fun to be around and helpful to me even though I was only an intern and they had nothing to gain from me. I made what I consider to be great money while I was there ($300/week base and average of $500/week in commissions). The management was always available whenever I needed anything and even spent time outside work at every opportunity with the account managers. I got to spend time with their two top account managers, one mle and one female, both of which are about to be promoted into a management position. They were both focused, motivated, selfless and honest.

I would be wary listening to anyone who rants and raves generalities on the internet, complaining they lacked the work ethic to succeed in the business world.

SEE Marketing is a great group of people who take care of their employees like family and actually care about helping them provide a better life for themselves.

Just my 2 cents from the month I spent with the company. And yes I will be returning after my last semester Full Time as part of their management training program.

My advice would be to go in for an interview yourself, ask the questions and let your instinct guide you to your own conclusion, rather than letting some ranting halfwit on the internet scare you away from what is a good group of ethical motivated people.
