I ordered blinds from selectblinds.

One of them is a little longer - I'm not surprised that it might cost more to ship.

However, at the end of the checkout, they added $90 for oversized shipping! When I received the item - it wasn't actually that big - even without any discount from fedex, it would only cost $25 to ship via fedex ground (the service they used)

When I asked about this gouging - they said it was for "additional insurance, paperwork, and handling"

That's a ripoff in my book - especially for a site that screams about free shipping everywhere you look on their site.

I traded 4 email with their customer service and they refused any kind of adjustment or accommodation.

Avoid them.

Dear Customer,

I can assure you that any order receiving an oversize handling fee charge actually meets or exceeds the stated size guideline(s).  In fact, this information is fully disclosed and presented prior to checkout and payment submission. 

The oversize fee is charged due to the additional labor, special handling and machining, and packaging associated in the production of large items. All oversized items must be shipped via ground carrier, as we seek to avoid damages that can occur with air freight shipments.

You will notice that your package was shipped ground (versus air), and typically requires two or more manufacturing specialists to construct, build and inspect your product.  Therefore, please understand this fee is not only associated with direct shipping costs.

We feel our prices are not only fair, but the best in the business.  For this reason, we offer our 150% Price Match Guarantee.  If you can find another retailer to produce and deliver this product for less, contact me directly.  I'll gladly refund you 150% of the difference in cost.

Because all of our pricing and offers are disclosed prior to payment, we hardly believe this is a rip-off.

Oversize Fees


Dear Jack Son: offers free shipping on all orders.  Oversize handling fees are applied to items/orders over 90" (7 1/2 Feet).  While we don't have the benefit of your real name or order information, we can confidently explain our fees and position. 

We can also assure you, if a fee was charged in error, we would be more than happy to correct any mistake.

Our oversize fee involves much more than shipping/carrier charges for items over 90":

This fee is charged due to the additional labor, special handling and machining during production, and packaging associated in the delivery of large items. All oversized items must be shipped via ground carrier, as we seek to avoid damages that can occur with these items during air freight shipments.

Constructing, packaging and delivering a custom-made item exceeding 7.5 feet in length is no small effort.  Our factory personnel works diligently to prepare your order. And, we disclose our fees during the order process.

If you feel that you have been charged in error, don't hesitate to contact me directly.  I'm sure we can resolve any issue.
