My church purchased a travel insurance "Cancel for Any Reason" policy with Seven Corners for a Fall trip to Israel.  I became very sick and I was in the hospital for the entire month of August.  My church was able to refund most of the travel expenses to me except for a $600 non-refundable deposit.  They told me that the Seven Corners policy would cover that.

I submitted all the validation paperwork asked for by the Seven Corners policy and then had a quick phone call from them saying they had received that documentation.  After a month of waiting, I started calling them.  I called 4 times and left messages on their answering machine.  Not once did they call back.  On one of the later calls, I was put on hold for over an hour.  My wife also called 2 times without any response.

At that point, I filed a complaint with the Indiana Better Business Bureau.  While that was being processed, I got a form letter from Seven Corners saying they had closed my case due to lack of response.  I responded by sending a registered letter documenting my claim that they had to sign for.  Recently, I got an email from the Indiana BBB saying they were satisfied with how Seven Corners had handled my case.

I have to believe that Seven Corners is run by idiots since my church gives them many thousands of dollars of business each year.  I paid $639 for this policy and am claiming $600 for the cancellation.

Your claim has been processed for payment

Hello again Larry,

As stated previously, I do apologize for the delays related to your claims.  You must also understand that when you filed the complaint with the BBB, this limits how and when we can respond directly to you until that complaint is resolved.  This along with an in-house backlog, that we have been working on for several weeks now, it simply gets complicated.  I specifically respond to posts that are made in the media.  I assure you that I have no ill-intention.

I regret that we've apparently let you down and hope that you do give us another chance to earn your business.  Take care and have a great day!

Thanks
Kathy

First Response but No Money

AUTHOR: Larry - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Hi Kathy,

Your rebuttal is the first personal response I have received from Seven Corners since a short phone call in October which acknowledged that I had filed a claim.  You state that you paid my claim at 75%.  To date, I have not received even a penny of my claim.  What bothers me most is that you respond to this public report, but no one from Seven Corners bothered to return my many phone calls or even acknowledge the registered letter I sent to you in December. Make no mistake, my church is not happy with the way you have treated me!

Sincerely,

Seven Corners' Response

AUTHOR: KathyHaught - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Hello Mr. Erickson,

I do hope you're feeling better.  I have reviewed your file, and BBB complaint.  I'm terribly sorry that you're dissatisfied with Seven Corners.  However please consider, that the reason that the BBB found Seven Corners' conduct satisfactory, is that your claim was paid.  The benefit of "Cancel for any reason", only allows for a 75% payout which has been issued.

I'm quite certain that your church would not be so loyal to a poorly run company, such as you described in your post.  Seven Corners is celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year and much of that credit is due to our absolute dedication to Customer Care.  We make every effort to take care of our customers needs and process their claims, per the policy provisions.

Please feel free to contact our office if you have any further questions or concerns, and we'll be happy to help.  Have a great day!

Thanks
Kathy
