This is my first and last swimming pool from Shasta and quite possibly any pool ever again. My SHITSA pool is the worst product with the biggest failure rate I've ever experienced in my life. It is going to take a d**n good pool salesperson from a competitor to get me to even consider the purchase of another pool. The taste in my mouth from this ordeal is bad. If my employer put out bullsh** like this and have excused themselves over and over again and never replaced defective parts, we'd be out of business! I have the QuikChlor Salt Chlorinator "system" and a gas heater for heating the spa and the pool. The heater heats the pool just fine.

The pool filters itself just fine. I have had two in-floor pop-up heads break off when the pool was not being used so there weren't any kids standing on or pulling them so I'm OK with A&A Mfg who replaces the pop-ups. They're all good. The problems exist between the heater and the spa and the QuikChlor. The QuikChlor sucks. I have been told "Oh, just immerse it in muriatic acid for about 20 minutes and everything will be OK". WRONG!

That doesn't work. Whenever I turn the entire system on, move two levers to run the spa the QuikChlor digital display reads "Clean cell or Lo Salt". But I just cleaned it right? Meaning immersed in muriatic acid. That DOES NOT work. To test it even further I leave the spa running with the error messages then fire up the heater to heat the spa.

Depending on what you want to heat, the water has to be flowing through either the heater and the pool OR the heater and the spa. As I said, the heater and the pool is fine. Things go south when trying to RUN and HEAT the spa. I have bashed my head against the wall explaining this to Shasta and C&J and all what ever happens is band-aid repairs like today and last week.

I explained it over again to C&J Pool Service when they called because I put in a warranty service call to have the QuikChlor replaced but they said "Yeah, we'll come out and look at it and test the probes blah blah blah. At retail this is a $550 item but IT IS UNDER WARRANTY and they won't replace it. Dealer cost is probably about $275 and true cost to manufacture probably $137.50 if that. I have the Ford Pinto of swimming pools.

So, I got home this evening to a door placard saying "Replaced Flow Sensor on QuikChlor". Huh? So, again, another band-aid. Why didn't they simply replace the QuikChlor??? I am at wits end. I just don't care anymore if everybody at these two places think I'm an a*****e. I've done EVERYTHING I've been told to maintain the pool correctly. Long story short, don't buy from Shasta and go elsewhere to have your pool serviced.

shasta/c&j

yip they're both rip off.My quikchlor has broke twice now and I had the whole unit replaced under warranty a year ago,it's broke again.c&j want $90 a call out even though it's a warranty???? how many times can you pay that?.
to rub salt in the wounds c&j asked me to wait in on a certain day, they never showed up,I phoned c&j to be told 'oh he did show up but your dog scared him away' really!!! I have three cats, anyway the next day c&j called again to get exact directions to my house,I said 'your having a laugh, yesterday you tell me that you came to my house and today you can't find it' now as anyone in queen creek knows, there's always the same kid comes out and went he got here he admitted he made up the dog story as he was running late and went home.I called c&j to complain but they didn't really seem to give a sh*t.

I've now decided to change it out for a Pentair intellichlor that the local pool repair people out here recomend as shasta are no longer getting anymore money from me.

funny enough before I gave any details I asked the pool repair company what brand was their biggest complaints and breakdowns? and I'm sure you can guess which chlorine unit it was.

Another victim of Shasta/C&J/QuikClor

AUTHOR: Another Shasta/quikchlor Victim - (U.S.A.)

I'm very disappointed at Shasta as well. I have the pool for less than two years, I think my QuikChlor is dead but no way to tell except the dummy "Clean Cell Lo Salt" indicator kept flashing despite soaking in acid for 20 minutes.

To add insult to injury, the Shasta service rep informed me that there will a service fee even if I choose not to use them to replace the broken parts. In addition, the service rep attitude is very rude and condescending toward my questions. My advise to the Shasta executive, poor customer service is sure way to ruin your company.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

A&A Mfg

AUTHOR: Bob - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 25, 2009

A a ex-employee of A&A Mfg...

At any time did you have the amps and voltage tested on the salt cell?
Yes sometimes cleaning the cell will clear away the calcium that may be logged in the unit, however. The only real way to be sure that the unit is operating is to test the voltage and amps. The unit reads clean cell/ low salt even if the cell is clean because the unit cannot tell the difference between the two so, that's why you see the clean cell low salt.
The only way to know if the cell is good is a amp and voltage test, should this test fail then the cell needs replaced. PEORID!

ALSO-- the cell needs to be cleaned often, that is any time you see calcium build up inside the cell. DONOT wait to clean the cell after a large amount of calcium has had time to accumulate. This will damage the cell. The water in your area and west of the 303 has a lot of calcium content in the water supply, therefore, a salt cell will require cleaning more often 2-3 months.
