The tent city jail is not designed to rehabilitate criminals. It is designed to keep Sheriff Joe Arpaio employed. As long as it cost less to house criminals in tents that a proper facility he will have a job. Someday the real cost of doing business will come to light and Sheriff Arpaio will not only loose his job but may end up spending some time with past residents.

The vending machines are set to take money and not give product. Minor at first glance, but if you go with the media hype of 2000 inmates at a dollar per inmate per day, that is 730,000 dollars a year.

Reports of food cost of 40 cents per meal per inmate are extremely low. How could anyone complain about that? Have you priced baloney lately? Two slices of meat and two slices of bread come to about 10 cents. Where is the rest of the money going? Also, the meat is colored to make it unappetizing, if the inmates do not eat it this meal it is served to them at the next meal. There by further reducing the actual cost of the meal.

Guards regularly stay inside, because it is too hot or too cold for THEM to be outside. Therefore contraband regularly flies over the fence into the yard.

Some day the people of Arizona ( or the Federal government ) will wake up and see the truth. When that happens I wonder it they will put Sheriff Arpaio in a tent?

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time

AUTHOR: Jeanie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 22, 2008

It is hard to feel sorry for any of the convicts/criminals at Tent City. It is pretty obvious that the idea is to make it as uncomfortable as possible so the criminals do not want to come back to Tent City - ever. We have vending machines on the outside that keep our money too from time to time. Nobody is picking on you. Stay out of trouble and you don't have to worry about the conditions at Tent City. I, for one, resent having to pay to feed and keep convicts/criminals. Keep up the good work, Sheriff Joe.

joe arpaio is a sadistic man who needs to be stopped

AUTHOR: Stephen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 01, 2008

Listen let me start of by saying i dont think joe arpaio is the "toughest sherriff in town". I think he's a coward who enjoys other ppls pain. i'm not even from the area but i am aware that he seems to be a crook. You have to remember Mr Arpaio these ppl r only human. Putting ppl in tents and charging them for meals. Thats messed up. They pay for their meals and most of the food is outdated. How can u charge people for outdated food.

Arpaio claims he is only cracking down on crime when 60% of all the inmates still reoffend within two years of their incarceration. What happens if an inmate doesn't have the money for food. Are you gonna starve. Oh no ur gonna connect them to a bunch of other inmates with chains and force them to work. Even if its not their fault they cant afford the food. Making inmates wear pink underwear is demeaning to their pride. Then bringing them into public for court in only their underwear. Thats all sorts of screwed up my friend. Scott norberg was an inmate of that jail who had been stunned by a stun gun after he was already restrain. It is known that the Maricopa shariffs office destroyed key evidence to that incident. Dont u think joe should have been charge with conspiracy for such a thing.

Brian Crenshaw was beaten into a coma by guards. According to Arpaio he fell off a bunk. By the way Crenshaw was blind. Richard Post's neck was broken in an incident while guards are shown in the video laughin at the inmates misfortune. Post still doesnt have complete mobility in his arm. James Saville who according to arpaio tried to kill him was exhonerated of his charge after Arpaios sherriffs department entrapped him. How can he jail immigrants when his parents themselves were immigrants. This man needs to be stopped ppl. He's a sociopath who needs to be brought down and brought to justice for crimes against humanity.

You know he's a sociopath by the way he enjoys the attention from the media. I know i'm not from Arizona but i'm still gonna do whatever i can to have this man stopped. Remember those inmates arent just throw away ppl. They still have the potential to go somewhere in life.

Inmates

AUTHOR: Destructo - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 18, 2008

Did you forget that these people broke the law? They are inmates, and all inmates should be treated as they are treated. They are given cold food, a changing climate, and no electricity, which is exactly what they should receive.

When you're homeless on the street, and can say, "I'll break the law, and have a good meal and a place to stay tonight," something is wrong.
