WOW, I hate to say it, but misery loves company and I am happy to see I am not the only one left miserable by my experience with Ship Your Car Now. I am also relieved to see that their responses to their other customers are just as snarky and downright rude lies as their responses to me have been.I find it interesting that I have never had a person call me aggressive or antagonistic as Mr. Pissano repeatedly accuses me of being, yet he is repeatedly referred to as a lying scammer who is rude to his customers. so I would have to believe that the truth is Mr. Pasano is playing the blame game with me because that is his MO.

Anyway, let me backtrack to my story-

I hired Ship Your Car Now, Llc to broker the shipment of my car to the UK back in August, 2013 . The car was to be delivered to New Jersey, put in a container and sent to Thamesport for my retrieval within 4-6 weeks. I would be given a contact in customs in the UK who would help me to clear the car at no additional cost. I don't know who decided to have the car go to New Jersey and now Anthony Pissano avoids that question but skirts around it by putting words in my mouth and saying that I am calling the shipping company incompetent.

Anyway, I got to work on a lien release from my bank which required proof of marine insurance. I repeatedly asked SYCN for this and was told they could not provide marine insurance until the car is assigned to a ship. Finally after a month SYCN produced a policy on their own with repeated mistakes despite very clear direction that my bank wanted to be listed as the claimant in the event of total loss. Once the paper work was issued my bank immediately issued the release. I was told by SYCN’s in mid-October that the car was in the process of clearing customs and would be shipping in around 11 days. I paid the balance due of $1800 and received an email informing me that I had an outstanding balance of $500. I called Mr. Paisano to ask him about this charge and he was very combative and never gave definitive answers. He spoke in circles and skirted my questions by deflecting back to me. I don't think I have ever had a more frustrating conversation in my life.  I enquired about this and was told the minor damage insurance policy cost $500. SYCN claimed to have taken out a very expensive minor damage insurance policy at the insistence of my bank. I spoke with my bank case manager a number of times and they clarified that they never required minor damage insurance. My husband directed SYCN to cancel this policy (which I believe to be bogus).

Now, Anthony Pissano puts a response to a review I wrote of his company and claims that he told me "In all instances, these vehicles require a marine minor damage insurance policy which Mrs Kenkel refused to purchase. Once it was explained over ten times about how it works, and the policy was secured and the bank green lighted the shipment both Lisa and her husband began an onslaught of calls and emails accusing ship your car now of thievery." The truth is that nobody at SYCN EVER gave an honest straight answer about anything. I was never told that they were taking additional insurance and the policy that they came up with did not say "minor damage" on it, so how was I to know even if it was not a bogus policy, which I am not convinced of.

He claimed on the phone that minor damage and total loss are one in the same. Mr. Paisano yelled at me for about five minutes and made me to feel that I had slighted my lienholder, I asked him to reinstate the policy and he stated, “You already have the release, so there is no point”.  When I caught him in a lie he stated that he wasn’t sure because he wasn’t a sales guy, he was a finance guy. This was my one and only interaction with Anthony Pissano, yet he claims that "Countless times Lessandre Kenkel and her husband John Kenkel were abrasive, antagonistic, and aggressive. We merely presented information to them and they argued with us every step of the way." in response to my review on transport reviews. Clearly, Mr. Pissano views someone questioning him as being combative or argumentative. I don't know how he was able to extract any type of intonation from emails because I am already in my destination (London) and have been since September 1 and I am certainly not making regular phone calls back to those buffoons. There is a five hour time difference, first of all, but international long distance phone calls are not free and I am just way too busy to call them regularly. Do I have hundreds of emails? absolutely! I was trying to figure out why in the hell it took three months for my car to be shipped and they were not giving me any information.  For reference, this phone call took place at around 6:00 pm my time because this is the only time I am able to make an international phone call. So this backs up my statement that I am not making many long distance phone calls at 6:00 pm while my family is sitting around the dinner table as Mr. Pissanp claims I harassed his company with an "an onslaught of calls and emails accusing ship your car now of thievery". I never once called them thieves until after my car was out of their control. I am much wiser than that!

On October 30th I received a bill of lading from Schumacher Cargo detailing the shipment. I emailed to ask why the car went to Southampton and was informed by the shipping company that Thamesport had closed down. I thanked them and that was it.  I then noticed that my car was not shipped in a container as had been promised. I emailed and asked why the car did not go in a container the response was "As we have told you a number of times, there is a lien on your car and you are not military". Furthermore, I was told that SYCN incurred additional expenses with my car that they had to absorb because the car was moved from NJ.. They refused to give me an honest answer about why the car was moved.

I called that afternoon and they gave me the true story. My car was sent to New Jersey because of a lack of knowledge on the part of SYCN staff. They should have known that the Port Authority of NY would not allow a car with a lien to ship. When SYCN found out the car would not leave from NY they chose to send the car to Baltimore. However, Baltimore only offers RORO, not closed containers. Had they had the correct information to begin with they could have sent my car to Savannah Georgia, which is closer to my home in VA and where it would have cleared customs and gone in a closed container. I was completely kept in the dark throughout this entire process and never once told about the issues with customs, insurance, etc.  Anytime I did find an issue and ask a question I was met with resistance, sarcasm and lies.

Contact information for the customs clearance here in the UK was on the Bill of Lading. The gentleman informed me that I would owe him over $350 to clear the car-despite the fact that I was promised by SYCN this would be included.

This company operates with a lack of knowledge of shipping procedures, absolutely horrible customer service, and overall bad business practice which includes lying and blaming the customer for the company’s  mistakes.  When my husband brought the 35 cases filed against SYCN with the Better Business Bureau to Mr. Paisano, his response was that he has had many more happy customers. He should be concerned with making every single customer happy, not blowing off 35 people who were angry enough to go to the BBB.

I am honestly drained from this experience. The only reason I am bothering to write reviews is because I really want to save other expats the agony of dealing with this company. There are so many other thing that you have to deal with when moving house and moving overseas. This should be a fairly smoothe and straightforward process. The reason we hire brokers for anything in life is to take some of the burden off ourselves. I ended up doing more work  in this case and almost paying more money. I have to say that every other post is true. I had every one of those experiences rolled into one.

INCORRECT INFORMATION

AUTHOR: shipyourcarnow - ()

POSTED: Monday, November 18, 2013

It is unfortunate to see an unhappy customer, but in this case, MR and Mrs John and Lessandre Kenkel are horribly mistaken. from the beginning, they were extremely difficult to work with and fought us every step of the way.  It becomes very hard to transport someones car when they do not offer the information needed to timely transport the vehicle.  In addition, the facts of their response as usual, are again mistaken.

The most glaring fact is this one. The car was picked up in Assandale, VA and transported to NY/NJ port for customs clearance.  Upon learning of the lien on the vehicle, the car had to be rerouted to Baltimore Port.  Savannah Georgia is nearly twice as far away from the pick up location as NY/NJ port.  Why the Kenkels would say its closer is just anouther way for them to cause problems and misinformation.  We encourage everyone to do a simple google maps to confirm this information.

I am not surpirsed at all that they complained on multiple sites.  As each complaint comes up we respond accordinly to allow the public the full picture.  Mrs and Mrs Kenkel will never tell you that Ship Your Car Now paid the extra money to ship their vehicle from one port to another, nor will they tell you that in addition to this they were also given another $300 discount for their troubles, even though the troubles were their own fault.

For reference, here is the raw response that they edited.

We here at ship your car now are deeply disappointed at the inaccurate presentment of facts. Not once has this customer ever been spoken to in an unprofessional manner. Countless times Lessandre Kenkel and her husband John Kenkel were abrasive, antagonistic, and aggressive. We merely presented information to them and they argued with us every step of the way. As the customer puts it, the nail in the coffin had nothing to do with a phantom policy.

Mrs Kenkel desired to ship a vehicle with a lien against it by a USA bank. In all instances, these vehicles require a marine minor damage insurance policy which Mrs Kenkel refused to purchase. Once it was explained over ten times about how it works, and the policy was secured and the bank green lighted the shipment both Lisa and her husband began an onslaught of calls and emails accusing ship your car now of thievery. The policy was cancelled upon their request, which is in writing and the vehicle still shipped unbeknownst to the lien holder.

We strive for 100% customer satisfaction. This customer refused to follow any rules or procedure in this process. Going forward we wish Mr and Mrs Kenkel all the best when they ship the vehicle back to the USA and find out that yet again all the same procedures are required.
