SHOPGOODWILL....AT IT AGAIN!... Dishonest Lot!

I buy 3 Rugs, ask for shipping to be combined. They combine the shipping. I pay. I hear nothing for 10 days. They collect the payment. Rugs not shipped. I contact them. They tell me an additional 16.98 is required before they can ship them, or they will cancel. The 28.00 or so paid is not enough to ship the 3 small area lightweight rugs. Not enough was collected for shipping, even though they quoted it and had it on final total.    I call UPS give them the zip codes, & weight, of course enough was collected with money left over,  they have a UPS account costs are even less than advertised on UPS website...like 15.70 to ship..total...

They wanted 22.00 plus an additinal 16.98

I email and tell them send the items it is not my problem, and send them a copy of actual costs quoted from UPS website to prove they already have enough and I am not paying more $ for shipping, when UPS quotes eough was paid already.

What do they do to solve the problem?...They disable my account, so I  have no access to know what is going on with the items and they have my $.

What a crappy dishonest COMPANY! YES, COMPANY. It's a BUSINESS not a charitable organization...Little information can be found as to where the donated money they collected from people's donations goes. One Attorney General's Office has had issue's with them.

I would like to know where the collected charity monies really go. For it is one organization that does not clearly show.

It is a business and a dishonest one at that. & people actually donate to them, so,  as they can simply make plenty profit that keeps their CO's happy & their pockets lined with $.

Goodwill is the name they adopted for their business and it works for them. With each of hundreds of stores now with their scales & gem testers to test the gold to make sure they get top dollar. It is not "Goodwill" it is taking "advantage" they scam customers & scam those that work for them supposedly under the guise of helping the disabled, they may hire a few disabled workers,  at low wages, that's about it.

What I do not understand is why people give them valuables to make money from when none of it or very, very little,  as proven in one report at an Attorney General's Office, ever goes back to the community. Little more than thieves, and greedy one's at that.

Putting FINANCIAL REPORT 2012 with NO LINK says NOTHING....your point? I guess so, you do not have one.

Their are MORE than one financial report...each store is obligated for a financial report in their State. Below is just (1)....dare we see the rest?

YES...I say they are greedy and it seems others do agree. You work for them? or just one of the sheep that blindly follow? I can back up...what I say, you on the other hand have to much to say, and can back up nothing.

from Wilkpedia (common knowledge) and only the tip of the Iceberg

In 2005, Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette (GICW), Goodwill's Portland, Oregon branch, came under scrutiny due to executive compensation that the Oregon attorney general's office concluded was "unreasonable." President Michael Miller received $838,508 in pay and benefits for fiscal year 2004, which was reportedly out of line in comparison to other charity executives and placed him in the top one percent of American wage earners. After being confronted with the state's findings, Miller agreed to a 24% reduction in pay, and GICW formed a new committee and policy for handling matters of employee compensation.

Goodwill Industries International exploits a Depression-era loophole in federal labor law to pay workers with disabilities less than the federal minimum wage. Under Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, organizations can obtain a "special wage certificate" to pay workers with disabilities a commensurate wage based on performance evaluations.  7,300 Goodwill employees nationwide are subject to the special wage certificate program. The National Federation of the Blind considers it "unfair, discriminatory, and immoral.

An independent investigation of Goodwill's tax returns showed that more than 100 Goodwills pay less than minimum wage, while simultaneously paying more than $53.7 million in total compensation to top executives. The former CEO of the Goodwill of Southern California was the highest paid Goodwill executive in the country. He received more than $1.1 million in total compensation. "In 2011, the Columbia Willamette Goodwill, one of the largest in the country, says it paid $922,444 in commensurate wages to approximately 250 people with developmental disabilities. These employees worked 159,584 hours for an average hourly wage of $5.78. The lowest paid worker received just $1.40 per hour."

Many smaller charities complain about Goodwill's business practices, which also include legislative efforts to “attempt to corner the clothing donation market and make more money.”

Goodwill believes that the policy is "a tool to create employment for people with disabilities."
