I have been bidding on Shopgoodwill for a few years now.  There are a few stores that have always had outrageous postage.  One in particula is Tocoma Washington.  I have seen a 22 inch doll with a postage over 50 dollars.  I have wondered if that was their way of getting out of mailing it thinking people won't bid or if they were deliberately trying to trick the customers.  I rarely bid on anything from that store.  I always check to see how much postage they are asking.  Now it seems at least 90 percent of the stores have postage that is way too high.  They will ask 15 to 20 dollars for a small light weight item.  If they wanted to be fair, they could use a postal rate chart and know exactly how much it would cost to mail.  They even ask for postage that is atleast 3 times what a book or cd would cost to mail.  There is too much of it for it not to be deliberate.  I intent to go back to Ebay to buy.  They have pretty much stopped the outrageous postage on that sight.  I don't know how much money is made on Shopgoodwill.com.  It use to be fun but I feel ripped off now.  I am going to stop going to the sight.  At the same time, there is obviously a lot of money being made there nationwide.  I believe some investigation should be done to see why they are charging such outragous postage and where ALL the money is going.  I believe at the least, they are discouragiing bidding.  People are getting tired of it.

GW does have high shipping

AUTHOR: delta - ()

POSTED: Saturday, September 27, 2014

I buy and sell online on an English site, ebid.net, and get my items from local auctions, local Goodwill stores, and Shopgoodwill.com.  While I agree with the comments that shipping is high, I will point out a few things:

SGW has no standards for shipping and really should. Light unbreakables are double boxed, some items in envelopes are in two and three different envelopes!  Odd, and a money waster for SGW. High shipping turns off buyers, spending too much to wrap an item wastes money that should go to their ministry.

SGW often does not even use the old ebay trick of charging $20 shipping and sending item for $3.  They often send a very small light item for $20 instead of cheaper way, so do not even keep the extra money!!  That is really crazy, and shows they do not hire people who are knowledgable in shipping.

Also, SGW does not hire ex ebayers or collectors so often the items are poorly listed.  Titles have typos, so don't sort properly, and the people listing do not know items, so will start off pricing really low.  Meaning, a collector/seller can get terrific bargains.  I have gotten $5 items that sell for $50.  A friend got a toy for $5 that sold for $450!  So we sure do not mind paying $5 for item, $15 to ship if we make even $50 on it.

So I do have mixed feelings about SGW.  Not well run, not always fair to buyers, but boy have I gotten wonderful bargains here.
