ShortTask www.shorttask.com who is owned by Employment Research Institute www.er.org has stolen $173.08 from me.

I deposited $174.00 into a seeker account with shorttask with the intentions of using their services. I soon realize their services will not fill the needs I have. This is when I find out that there is no way to withdraw funds from a seeker account.

I used the contact form many times but have not once received a response. After doing so research I ended up at: www.careermission.com which is the same as: www.employmentresearchinstitute.com and: www.er.org. This company calls itself Employment Research Institute and in the right hand column of the site you see a title that says OUR COMPANIES. This list boasts the names of 25 companies and dozens more websites mirroring a certain site.

This list of course includes ShortTask. I used the phone number from this site to contact them about ShortTask. The woman that answered the phone acted like she knew nothing about ShortTask but promised to find someone that could help me out.

Several days later with no call back, I call them back and went through the process again with the same results. Several calls and several days later with the same excuses I finally spoke with a man that promised to resolve my problem by finding someone who could take care of it for me. This is their run-around. They called me back a couple of times to verify my name and email address and that was the end of their efforts.

I filled with the BBB and finally received a statement from them. It is below.

Company's Response

Company's Initial Response - Posted 12/30/2010
We will be cancelling the customers account. No money will be owed and the customer should receive no more invoices for payment.
Initial Response Summary
The customer will not be charged for any services.

Of course I will not be charged for any services and receive no more invoices. I never received any invoices and that is not the problem. They have my money. Money I deposited into my seeker account. They have completely ignored this situation and directly committed fraud.
