First word of advice, do not bid on any item on auction from Sierra Auctions.  Second, don't think they will work with you after you win.  Third, don't expect transparency of fees they keep adding on to your bill needlessly.

I saw their auction online on ProxiBid.  I saw on ProxiBid that their fee is 13%.  That is wrong!!!!  When I was done, after paying for everything, was about 40%.  And, I will go into general detail because they don't go into detail why they charge things.  There are two charges called the same thing, Admin fees, of $330.  Not just once, but twice.

Then, they charge you the 13%.  Then, they will charge you sales tax, paper fees, etc.  And, if you don't pick up the car that day, they charge you $10 a day.  They make you pay sales tax, temp tag fees and anything else they can.  Of course, they never tell you any of this until you win the bid.

Being that the auction was online, I lived across the country and could not pick up the car for a couple of weeks.  But, they don't care, they will charge you the storage fee, and they did not mention that until I flew in and arrived at the place.

If you want a good deal on a car auction online, there probably are some good places.  But, if you think it will be from Sierra Auctions, you are totally wrong!

Vehicle Fees in complaint below

AUTHOR: President - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, September 27, 2012

I do believe this person has buyer's remorse and is taking it out on Sierra.  This is unfortunate because in our terms and conditions, we mentioned the following fees on Proxibid and they are also announced prior to the auction as of his complaint date:

Buyer's Premium of 13% (10% standard plus 3% for bidding online)
Sales Tax of 9.3%
Title Administration fee of $40

That is it.  Temporary registration tags can be created online and brought in by the buyer.  However, if you require Sierra's assistance in creating these for your vehicle, we charge a nominal fee for helping you out.  There are no other fees if you pay for your vehicle the Monday following the auction and pick it up by that Wednesday.  Our terms and conditions also state that if you fail to follow those instructions, you MAY be required to pay late payment charges as well as storage fees.

This is a very standard practice in the world of vehicle auctions.  We have often worked with out-of-state buyers on these terms when the buyer stays in communication with us during the process.  This person evidently did not stay in contact with us.  Since he/she didn't share his actual invoice in this report, I am guessing that the charges he/she incurred are what I stated above.

We have had hundreds of online buyers that are completely satisfied with our process and have gotten great deals.  I urge this person to share the invoice so that we can see exactly what was charged.
