My girlfriend and I signed up to see a new indoor waterpark a few hours away from us. It was really persuasive knowing that we could get free passes that day along with a gas card and a 40 dollar visa just for visiting silerleaf's 90 min tour. So we said with we will go and see what it’s about. So, the day of the tour we drove 3 hours to the silver leaf location in Flint, TX from Little Elm, TX. Once we got signed in we were set up with a sales guy. He showed up all the locations and inside the condos. Which was all very nice. Especially the indoor water park! After the tour he sat us down in a big opened area with 20 others salesman and their customers. It was very loud and we could hardly hear what the sales guy was saying when he was sitting right across from us. Anyways, after he showed us all the benefits and locations silver leaf have as in Boston, Chicago, Maine, Florida, and overseas locations, He finally got to the catch. He presents us with a 14,000 dollars investment with a down payment of 4,000. Which would give us a week a year and 3 days bonus time to use anytime spaced out over 7 days inbtw reservations. It sounds nice but I told him I didn’t have 4 grand to down off a tip of a hat. I told him that how could I pay you 4 grand right off the street not knowing much about silver leaf. Then he got a sales manager, she said she could work us up a deal. After 3 times her trying to swindle us a deal, she got down to 4,500 investments with 500 dollar down payment. This was more our style and affordability. So, we told her that we only had 100 dollars in cash that day and we could bring her a check from the bank the next day BC we don’t ever carry checks. She was ok with this, and we signed a bunch of paper work. In all the time spent there we stayed 5 hours doing all the tour, deals, and paperwork. So we finally left and told them we would return with the check. Now, on the way home, we came to our senses. We figured how this was not what we wanted. The hotel rooms are usually the cheaper cost of the trip. By the time you add gas, plane tickets, entertainment, eating out, the hotel expense is the least of your worries!! Also, we figured ok if most of their TX locations are in the middle of nowhere and the big city or entertainment you want you have to drive hours too. Then why would we ever want to stay at silver leaf!! If I’m going to a beach I want right beside the beach or on it. I’m not going to want to drive hours+ to my desired location where I want to be!! So, we called the sale manger. She answered on the first call. After we told her that we wanted to cancel, her cheerfulness she gave us quickly disappeared. She told us to talk to the girl that processed our paperwork to cancel the membership. The girl asked us to come by up there to sit down and sign the paperwork. I told her that it’s a 3 hour drive and if she could just fax/email it to us. She said she would get the sale manger to get the paperwork. So we waited a few hours and called both of them back and left message. NO RESPONSE!! So, we read the fine print for canceling. It said we can cancel within 4 days of signing and get a full refund. It’s says to send in paperwork by mail with a letter attached stating a membership cancelation. As bad as I didn’t want to, we drove that next day back up to the resort. I didn’t want to chance sending them anything in the mail and them saying," We didn’t receive it, it got lost in the mail, or we didn’t receive it until after the 4 days. (By Texas law you have 6 days to cancel. Any time after that you are binded by contract). So, once we arrive we sat down with the sales manager. She told us that it was already cancel and the girl doing paperwork was supposed to call and tell us. I didn’t believe her. I asked sign the cancelation agreement document. She said they didn’t have such a thing. That there is nothing to sign. I was pissed!! So, I told her that I wanted her to sign a written statement we wrote saying we wanted to cancel our membership on the certain date. She just gave us the go to hell look, but she did sign it along with our signature. We also got her to write a letter saying she received the cancelation and all of us sign it. Finally after that was done, she gave us a full refund check. I will NEVER do this again. You can tell it’s a big a*s scam when they won’t return your phone calls and don’t want to cancel your membership. Especially the day after signing!!! Sorry for the misspelled words...
