I was recruited to join Simi Valley Workout by the manager Larry at a local fast food establishment while eating to try a free trial membership at their gym.  After being promised more than 5 times I can cancel at any time,  I signed up.  I had to give my debit card number in order to receive the free trial membership.  I tried to cancel before the  free trial had ended and was told I had to do it by the 15th day in order to not be charged.  So I could not be refunded and proceded to cancel my membership at the front desk.  Left.  Approximately 7 months later I notice a charge on my account from Simi Valley Workout and went to the bank to find they have been charging me since I cancelled.  I went into the gym demanding a refund and was told by the manager Larry he could not find my cancellation information,  even though he so called cancelled my membership.  He said the best he could do was to give me a 3 month free membership,  and I made him absolutely promise to show a cancellation on the account,  in the computer.  He fumbled on it and said my card will not be charged again.  Months later I realize I am being charged on my account again,  but didn't catch it right away.  So I went back into the gym and confronted Larry the manager,  who said I never cancelled the membership,  so he could not refund me the money taken from my account.  Aggravated beyond belief I asked how I could cancel the membership with written proof and would not do so until I had it.  He gave me a card with the name   Parisa Siddiqi and said she is the person who handles the cancellations.  To email her an official cancellation notice.  I did and saved it on a file on my computer.  I cancelled the debit card.  This was April 18th 2011.  Today,  July 12,  2011  I checked my bank account and see I have been charged again for 3 months at 25 dollars per month since the email was sent on a cancelled debit card.  I now have to close my bank account to stop them removing money from my account.  The manager of the bank is gathering documents on who authorized the dispute from Simi Valley Workout to have the money removed from my account again.  I have been trying to cancel a cancelled membership since june 1,  2010.  I have been charged approximately 25 dollars a month since then.  I have been ripped off,  lied to,  and spent numerous hours on my days off trying to deal with this crooked establishment.
