Simmons Bedding Company Worthless Warranty Norcross, Georgia

We contacted the Simmons company about our expensive foam mattress which was still under warranty. I explained that our mattress had become dangerous since my husband had begun rolling out of bed. The last time this happened he cut his arm and face seriously on his night table as he fell to the floor.

Our mattress has a large hump down the center, deep compressions on either side of the hump, and no edge support. These factors cause him to roll towards the edge where there is no support to keep him from falling out. The bed is also quite uncomfortable with a very limited area in which to sleep.

After jumping through all sorts of hoops to first fax and then mail copies of our original receipt and read information from the tag on the bed, a mattress "inspector" came and took measurements and photos. He looked at (did not touch) one side of the mattress only and lifted the bed skirt to see if the "foundation" matched the mattress (it did).

We received a brief form letter saying there was no "structural failure in either mattress or box springs/foundation" (the foundation was never checked in any way). Of course, had there been "structural damage" that would no doubt have been seen as caused by misuse by the consumer. The letter also said the mattress "is contouring to the shape of your body" and "we are unable to offer a replacement because the product is performing normally." The issue of the hump down the middle and the lack of edge support was not addressed.

If this represents "normal" performance then the quality standards for Simmons bedding must be very, very low indeed (if they exist at all). Their warranty is totally worthless. Sadly, pride in one's products and standing behind them is a thing of the past.
