I had problems with Sirius from the first week I had service with them. I had a terrible signal and they refused to do anything about it - blamed it on a faulty radio and told me to exchange it. I did (Radio Shack was wonderful about that) but the second radio did the same thing. I was calling them every other day but they weren't doing anything about it. Finally one of their reps said they'd send me something that would help give better reception (only one rep knows about this????) so I waited,,,, and waited and waited. I had to call in TWO more times to get them to send it!! When it got here I discovered this wasn't something I could install myself and you had to call in to the number provided with the device to set up an appointment. Someone was supposed to call me back within 48 hours with the appointment time and place but they never did. Turns out they don't have anyone within hundreds of miles to install this thing!!! On top of these things their customer service people are the most obnoxious, rude bunch of creeps I've ever had to deal with. One of them literally laughed at me and told me there was nothing I could do about it and he'd make sure I didn't get my money back by putting a note on my account for other reps to see. This company should NOT be in business. Most of them don't speak good enough English to even understand you when you call in and the ones that do, they don't care anyway. If anybody is debating between Sirius and XM, go with XM. I don't know what their customer service is like but they can't be as bad as Sirius.

Happy with them for years!

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Sirius radio, but depending on where you live you may need the Sirius FM Modulator Relay which you can get from Crutchfield, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. This is probably the device the CSR was telling you about, except I doubt that Sirius would send you one for free.

I live in a large city and there are alot of FM stations transmitting. The FM Modulator connect directly from your Sirius to your FM antenna cable and blocks any interference that you might get. This solved my problems in my vehicle. Before I purchased the device my signal would go "in and out" while I drove - unless I was in the middle of nowhere. Once installed - crystal clear!!!

In my other vehicle (wifes car) I didn't need the because I was able to purchase the GM XM to Sirius converter and directly connect into her GM factory head unit - CD quality and crystal clear!!!

I hope you are able to solve your problem with Sirius. I have been a happy subscriber for 4 years now.

Oh yea - if you have interference problems from local FM stations then you will have the same problems with XM or Sirius without a direct connect....

Happy w/ Sirius

We had Sirius service for a little over a year, and the completely experience was awesome! We never had a single problem with the receiver, and the signal, with no extra hardware, was fine. We got rid of it, simply 'cause we were getting rid of unwanted bills.

It doesn't take much common sense to get a Sirius receiver working correctly.

Have had the Boombox, Sportster, and Stiletto and have some suggestions for you

I've has SIRIUS for over 4 years and have owned the Sportster w/ the car dock, the Boom Box the Sporster fits into, and now own a Stiletto 100 w/ the car dock and let me tell you what I've learned.

For the person who has the boombox: the only way it can work is to have the antenna outdoors, it even says it in the instructions. Unfortunately, the antenna isn't strong enough to read through walls, you need unobstructed sight.

I had the Sportster and the backlight went out on me about a year after I got it. Luckilly, I had the channels I enjoyed memorized so it wasn't that big an issue for me.

I never really had a problem with the Customer Service except that if you sign up additional receivers, make sure they don't bill you full price for each instead of the discount. But even that, when I called they were sympathetic and made sure I got my money back.

I got a Stiletto for Christmas and love it. The Customer Service swtiched the service from my Sportster to my Stiletto seamlessly and even stayed on the line with me for like five minutes of basic silence while I waited for the Stiletto's signal to go active. Even when I ordered the car dock and there was some confusion about the shipping (wrong tracking #) and it got fixed while I was on the phone and the dock came in the following days.

BTW, if you all weren't aware that once you have SIRIUS service you can go to their website and get streaming Internet for no additional charge to your computer.

DON'T buy the Sirius boombox

AUTHOR: Rhonda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 26, 2007

I can't believe my experiences with Sirius. I've had the WORST customer service from this company with my Sportster. My husband bought me the boombox for Xmas, thinking I'd at least have good quality Sirius radio here in the house. When I plugged it all in tonight I found out it works just fine ON MY DECK but the minute you step back in the house it doesn't even pick up any signal. When I called Sirius, their answer (after 20 minutes and a couple different people) was to send me 50 more feet of cable. YES - they actually thought they'd just send me more cable so I could have my antenna outside and then string cable through my entire house as I use my boombox. Wouldn't that be nice? You can't even call this thing portable - it's just another Sirius piece of crap. I thought about trying a Stilletto but I'm sure it won't work either - all they sell is junk with ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

Sirius is terrible

AUTHOR: Rich - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 26, 2007

I got a receiver for my car about a month ago, returned it after 10 days. What a terrible device, so incredibly cumbersome. Surius hasterrible volume and power compared to normal radio or CDs. The programming is horrible also. It's all third rate crap that you'd never listen to on the radio. Customer Service at Sirius is the WORST. So obnoxious.

I lost about $150 in non-refundable installation and connection fees. What a bad experince.

Do yourself a favor, do not, DO NOT get this satelite radio service.
