Siteground rents servers from EV1 in Houston, TX and remotely administer and conduct ALL business from Sophia, Bulgaria. If you talk to their "Live Chat" or any other communication with them, their claims of "8th Street" in New York City is just a mail drop - as one user found when trying to serve them with a civil summons for a suit against them for breach of contract.
This FACT has been confirmed directly with past and present employees of Siteground in Bulgaria, people who use "US" sounding names such as Kenny, Bobbi and Alan, but have real names such as Bogdan, Kiril, Stoyan etc.
Basically, they advertise and offer resources that are far beyond their capabilities or their INTENTIONS. When a user attempts to use these resources beyond any minimal level, they will trump up some excuse to cancel or suspend the account WITHOUT refund in most cases.
We were shafted badly by these people with a loss of ALL communications from Ebay and PayPal to us for almost a week! That was devastating for our business because we were not notified of Ebay sales, PayPal payments, etc. We promptly moved to HostMonster.com and have been 100% satisfied now for 6 months - they tell the truth when they are down or have a problem - SiteGround provides a "canned" technical response that is a cut and pasted response until one complains enough.
