Sitestar (Velocitus) Sitestar ExisNet Billing scam on long-cancelled accounts. Lynchburg, Virginia

I canceled my ExisNet dial-up service way back in 2006. Suddenly, and out-of-the-blue in May 2010, I get a letter/bill for over $226.25 from Sitestar Exis.Net with a notice that it will be turned over to a collection agency if not paid within xx days!

I called the number on the letter but got technical support (billing was closed) and they told me they have received several similar calls. Tech support said that apparently when ExisNet was bought out by Sitestar, accounts that were never supposed to be transferred to the new owner, were erroneously transferred. He said to contact billing the next business day to have this corrected.

I called billing about the mysterious $226.45 bill which came, without warning, over 4 years after I cancelled my ExisNet service! They said that they had never received a cancellation notice, but will now settle the account for $22.95 in late fees charged.
