On July 25, 2005 I ordered a transmission from S&J Used Auto Parts via partslocator.com. They said the part was available and it cost $953.50 and would be shipped within 7-10 days.

After 10 days I called S&J Auto to see where the trans was, thats when the crap started. They told me that the first trans they "found" didn't look right and they weren't going to ship it.

They said that they would locate another trans and I would have it within another 7 days. The 7 days go by, I call they don't have the trans, they said it would take another week before they could find one.

After that I called again and they said that they had found a trans and I would have it within 5 days, after the 5 days goes by I received the WRONG transmission. I shipped it back, called them and said cancel the order and refund my money, they then said they had located another trans that was in my state and I could go pick it up myself.

I drove 218 miles to get the trans and find out that the yard that has the trans refuses to do business with S&J Auto. On my way to the yard they wouldn't really tell me where it was located so I had to find it on my own. Once there thats when I found out they wouldn't do business with S&J Auto, so I called S&J to find out where the yard was and told them I was in the area and needed to know the address, but I was already at the yard.

That's when John (owner of S&J) said that the yard told him 6 times they had the trans but now they don't, unknowing to John I was talking to the owner of the yard and he assured me that he had the transmission, infact I physically looked at the trans. John then asked (before he knew I was already at the yard) if I wanted a rebuilt or a refund, I told him I wanted a refund so he transferred me to Joyce saying she had a deal that I couldn't refuse.

That deal was they could get me a rebuilt trans for the same price of $953.50. They then said they would call back within 30mins to tell me how long it would take to ship it. I HAD to call them back.

I then talked to Christine. I told her I wanted a refund, she said they would refund me $600.00 so I could go to the yard (that I was already at) and buy the trans myself. When she said the name of the yard I said oh you mean the one John said didn't have the trans? I then told her I was already at the yard and I had looked at the trans John said they didn't have.

That's when I heard her screaming at John "he caught you lying", she then said they would refund the full amount of $953.50 within 24hrs. That was on Friday the 19th at 3:50pm.

I still have not received the refund. I called them today and they said it would take 7-10 days to refund my money, mind you they charged my dads credit card the day I ordered the trans which was July 25th 2005, the trans was originally shipped Aug 15th 2005. Also Christine had called my house phone instead of my cell phone knowing that was half way across the state.

On the house phone they left a messege that said I could buy the rebuilt trans for $1200.00,that was at 3:15pm and I was told by Joyce at 2pm that I could get the rebuilt for $953.50. Notice everything is 7-10 days with them.

I am now constantly calling them to get my money back, and I will continue to do so until I have my refund.

the last comment I made about john "a man of his word" he told me I would only get my refund if I put that in this report. now almost 2 years later I think its safe to say the truth now that the credit card that he charged no longer works just thought that should be knowen the nice things i said about him is the only way i could get my refund. now all the truth is out now. peace out

Refund

On Sept 7th I talked to John at S&J and he assured me that I would receive my full refund the next day. When I checked the account this morning (Sept 9th) my full refund was there, dated the 8th.

John IS a man of his word. I would like to thank John for working together with me on this. I would also like to say that after calming down and speaking as adults we were able to finalize everything. Again I would like to thank John.

John called me today and said that my refund would be posted to my dads credit card Tuesday September 6, 2005 when Christina gets back from vacation.

He also said thanks for the ripoff report and be sure to tell them that he saved me $200. I don't see how he SAVED me $200 anywhere, infact he cost me $200 or so in a wasted trip half way across the state to a vender that refuses to do business with him.

I ended up leaving the yard with NO transmission because I had no money, S&J has it and the owner of the yard sent S&Js check back to them 30mins before I arrived because they refuse to do business with them.

As I get more info I will update.

Filed complaint

I filed my complaint with the att. gen. of NY today, and my dad has filed a dispute with his credit card company. He is also going to contact the Saratoga Police and file a complaint with them. I will update more when I receive more info from the att. gen. and police dept.

I filed my complaint with the att. gen. of NY today, and my dad has filed a dispute with his credit card company. He is also going to contact the Saratoga Police and file a complaint with them. I will update more when I receive more info from the att. gen. and police dept.
