Skip White Sets The Record Straight

AUTHOR: Skip White - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 18, 2016

As the owner and founder of Skip White Performance, I would like to personally respond to this absurd complaint. Your first issue is that we sold you a counterfeit crankshaft, because it didn't have Scat's name embossed in the crank. We told you when you called that not all Scat cranks have the embossed logo in them, and explained why. Scat sells these cranks to many engine builders that do not want the Scat name in the crank. Many of the GM Performance crate engines have Scat cranks and rods in them. GM does not want any name on the crank. But to accuse us of selling counterfeit cranks without knowing is very unsettling to me.

Your next complaint is that the heads we sold you have an out of the ordinary intake port design. I will say the only thing that's different about the intake ports on these heads is that they are considerably larger than the ports on a stock set of early style gm heads. We have sold over FIVE MILLION DOLLARS worth of these heads in the past ten years, and never once has a customer complained that the intake ports are in an unusual position. We have built THOUSANDS of engines with them in the past using various brands of aftermarket intakes and never had a problem.

All aftermarket high performance cyl. heads have larger intake ports than stock heads, and of course they are going to appear taller as they are overall larger in all dimensions. Our ads clearly state what type intake gaskets to use, and some intakes will sit too low when mounted and the simple cure for this is use the thicker 1266 FelPro intake gaskets, as mentioned by Tony Sizemore of HeadBytes. You evidently tried to not only use the thinner version of this gasket but the completely wrong intake gasket, such as a stock set. It would appear that the intake ports are in a wrong position simply because you're using the totally wrong gasket.

As I mentioned not one person has ever claimed that these heads have the intake ports in an unusual location that causes a problem. Our new line of NKB heads are the same, and use the same intake gaskets, Dart Platinum Pro one heads also use the same intake gaskets.

You claimed to have been able to actually see the intake ports on the heads after installing the intake and actually installed the intake and ran the motor. Of course you had a huge vac. leak doing this. I can't understand you thinking this was ok to install the intake and run the engine. As you mentioned, you used stock intake gaskets with undersized ports, and much too thin, and there lies your problem. You claim we told you it was ok that you could see the intake ports after installing the intake. We don't have anyone that stupid working for us that would say that, but had you used the proper intake gaskets we clearly mention in the ad, you would not have had the problem.

I notice you got the counterfeit crank issue cleared up with Scat and our sales people, but the negative review still exists mentioning this. All in all we did nothing wrong or misled you in any way.

My only wish is that I had personally given my personal rebuttal sooner to this review you posted.

Headbytes Video on Intake Manifold

AUTHOR: yakmaster60 - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, July 27, 2015

Hello, this is Thomas Sizemore, owner of Headbytes and the operator of the Youtube Channel headbytes porting.  I would like to say on behalf of the Person who filed this report that he was CORRECT, in that the 210cc version of ProComp Small Block Chevy heads are in FACT a CHINA coppied version of the Chevy Phase 6 .200 raised runner heads made back in the early to mid 1990's, and IS raised runner. to be honest, I am SHOCKED that Skip White would deny this, as I have talked to this man a couple of times over the years, and I know for a FACT he KNOWS that they are .200 raised runner, and I conversed with a couple of his employees over the years and they was as SHOCKED as me back in the earlyer 2000 when these things first hit the US, that ProComp left out that they had coppied the .200 raised design.  This is NOT a bad thing; however, a GREAT THING in that you can make a conciderable amount of extra power because of this....THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST TOLD EVERYONE ABOUT THIS WHEN THEY BOUGHT THE HEADS...LOL.

On my YouTube channel it shows the FIX, which is to use a Fel-Pro 1266 .120 thick gasket that gets it close to lining up correctly...It is to be noted that this DOES NOT ALWAYS work, depending on what intake you use and how much your block has been machined on the deck surface.  You got to do the math on this as far as Block Deck Hgt, and how much you might have milled the heads to achieve compression, and head gasket thickness.  Any professional engine builder can do this for you.  I can see this persons problem who filed this, and he is RIGHT in being mad for being NOT TOLD, I just cannot believe that in 2015 Skip White (or in this case one of his employees) did not see this, and or someone in the company has NOT attemped to explain this on there website. Please go to

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Qy8_QBX6M8

to see the video on what this person is talking about, and the cure for it. Thanks, and Skip White, get this on your website A.S.A.P., your too good a person and company to make a mistake like that....thanks..

Yes I have proof if you don't like my grammar don't read it

AUTHOR: johnny d - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, January 08, 2014

First of all yes I have built engines in the past but I never heard of it being ok to see intake port on head higher than intake meaning vacuum leak so if intake is blocking the top part of intake port on head thus it means that the bottom intake port on head is blocking the intake port follow me now for the crank issue I went onto scat crankshaft website and it has a whole page of how to identify there crankshafts thus there logo in raised letters on on there cranks to keep this from happening so I will make a deal with Carl you teach me grammar and I will draw you some pictures on how intake ports are suppose to be and you can color them

Have you ever built an engine before?

After reading your "ripoff report", I question your engine building skills/knowledge.  Your report has little or no facts to back up what you are saying.  Why blame Skip White Performance for your stupidity?

Also, have you ever heard of punctuation like a comma or even a period?
