I called Skiwi rentals on Thursday June 30th to reserve a 9 seater boat for Sunday, July 3rd. (4th of July Holiday weekend) My family was in town from Wisconsin visiting for the holidays. I was very excited when I spoke to someone at Skiwi Rentals and they had their 9 person boat available for the day. I was given a confirmation number and I was told that they opened at 8am and my credit card would be charged 400$ for the boat rental for the day. I was also told that I would be able to rent tubes and wake boards when I picked up the boat on Sunday.

When driving to pick up the boat, it was about 9:30am, I received a phone call from Skiwi asking me if I would still like to rent the JETSKI. I told them that my group of 9 was already on our way and that we never discussed a jetski rental, only a boat. The man that I spoke to on the phone said to just come and we would figure it out.

When we arrived at Skiwi we were told that we booked a jetski an not a boat online. I never booked anything online, I did it all by phone. I was also told that someone called me Thursday to confirm, they left a message and that I never called back. I told them that the reservation was made on Thursday and I never received any phone calls. He quicky changed his story and said they never called me because I booked it on the same day that they would normally book it.

He never apologized and claimed responsibility for making a mistake when booking my reservation. He never offered us any type of discout for another vehicle. He just kept saying that I should have called back, or I should have noticed the mistake when receiving the confirmation email (which they never sent). He just told us to drive all the way to Lake Mead Marina and rent from them.

We spend hours driving from marina to marina and no boats were available. We are now driving home with very disappointed kids in tow. Thanks Skiwi for your horrible customer service and ruining our holiday weekend.

What rip off???

I'm the person who took this customers phone call.

July 4 weekend is a huge weekend.  There are over 2,000,000 people in Las Vegas and we had 20 jet ski's & 2 boats.... it seems like at least 1,000,000 want to hit the water!  Our phones go nuts!! Naturally, we book out fast.

Typically, people call up as ask for information about our equipment a week or two before. We've found the easiest thing to do is direct them to our website so they can see video, information & pricing.  They then price around, have to discuss it then call back some days later.  If they leave it to long it's usually already reserved for someone else.

On Thu before July 4 weekend this lady had called me & asked to reserve the "VXR".  It's our high performance jet ski & we only have one of them.  It doesn't go out that much so when someone asks for it its easy to remember.  Its not our boats which are the "LX2000" & "SX210" at the time. 

1. Why would I book a jet ski if she wanted a boat?  That doesn't make sense.
2. "VXR" doesn't sound anything like "LX2000" or "SX210"
3. If she had said she wanted a boat I would have told her we have nothing available.
4. As she has asked for the "VXR" I assumed she had been on our website & knew what she wanted.

Incidentally, by Thursday the only thing left in Las Vegas to rent was our VXR.  All the marinas in the area, including ourselves, booked out our boats at least a week prior.  There was no way she was going boating that weekend.

Incidentally, she was never charged for the VXR & it sat all day in our yard so the company lost money.   So I guess we got ripped off.

Unfortunately, this lady ruined her own holiday by leaving it until 2 days prior to a major weekend to put her holiday plans together.
