I had been searching for a small commuter car and found a decent car at Skyline Ford. I wanted some more information on it and was contacted by Jeff White at Skyline Ford.

I had called him to let him know I'd be in to view it that day. He was okay with that but I ended up being called into work early and let him know that I would be in the next day, since I had it off, to view the car.

Come to find out, he had been in the process of selling the car while telling me to come in and view it.

If you did not give them a deposit they have every right in the world to sell that car. You already broke one appointment to see the car. They had no idea how many times you were going to be 'called in to work" Absolutely no rip off here.

No, he didn't inform me he was selling the car. He informed me it would be there when I got to the dealer. I didn't find out until he had emailed me that he had sold it. He had only initially told me he was in the middle of a sale when I was on the phone with him. He wanted me to still come out and see more expensive cars and buy one.

A "Bait and Switch?"

"Skyline Ford Bait & Switch Scam Salem, Oregon"

A bait and switch is when something is offered and when purchase is attempted, something more costly is substituted.. Is this what happened to you?

Having another buyer for the car is hardly "bait and switch." Often, when a dealer tells a customer he has another buyer, the customer complains the dealer is pressuring them and probably lying.

No, I DON'T work for Skyline Ford....never have.
