Slimbrowser is an internet browsing search similar to google, firefox, etc.  Unfortunately they appear to be fraudulent.  When I used them a pop up stating that I needed specific drivers kept popping up and preventing me from using their search functions.  So eventually thought I had a problem with my aged computer and I clicked on their pop up, read the information, and purchased their product to fix my computer.  All that did was crashed my system.  It took a full day of my time and eventually hours of a professional company with a BBB rating to get my system restored.  This software had to be removed, as it contained viruses and bugs.  My cost exceeded $4,000 to correct.  I tried to write slimbrowser to notify them of this bogus pop up and could not contact them via the web, but found an address to write them so I did.  The letter was returned "return to sender, no such number, unable to forward".  Even their contact information is a scam.  DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.  I also now experience scam information appearing in one of my email addresses.  I suspect that the information may have been captured by my using Slimbrowser and is being forwarded to other scammers.  I have no direct evidence that this happened, only circumstantial evidence, but the timing is appropriate.

To be clear, SlimBrowser is the name of the software product while FlashPeak is the company name. Just like Microsoft has a product named Office.

As for the address, it's always 7921 Menler Dr. We have never made any changes to this address since the establishment of the company. If I wanted to hide away from you, I wouldn't have come to this place to respond to your claims. Ripoffreport.com didn't contact us for you. We were actively monitoring discussions about SlimBrowser over the internet as part of a marketing effort. If you had simply shoot us an email via "support  at  flashpeak.com" (I wrote @ in the form of "at" to avoid getting unnecessary spams) as mentioned in this page: http://www.slimbrowser.net/en/contactus.htm , I would have responded to your questions much sooner.

As for the driver-update popup, I am pretty sure it comes another scamming third party. A web browser is just a window to the wild and big internet. You do have to keep your eyes open for all kinds of scams. There are a lot of scam ads in the forms of popups or images claiming your PC might be in danger or might be infected. My general recommendation is do not trust them. And be sure to install a good antivirus software on your computer as an additional safeguard.

I am sorry I couldn't come back here on a daily basis. If you have additional questions, write an email to "support  at  flashpeak.com" (Again, replace the "at" with "@") or use the feedback form located at http://www.slimbrowser.net/en/onlinefb.htm .

Slimbrowser? not FlashPeak

AUTHOR: Mary - ()

POSTED: Friday, April 12, 2013

I apologize if as you wrote, I am going after the wrong guy.  Please explain why these crap driver products only showed up on slimbrowser.  Also please explain why your address was incorrectly referenced for me to contact you from the slimbrowser site.  (and don't claim I read it wrong because I fully checked prior to writing it on the envelope.  I even put my glasses on to clarify as the print was so small that I wanted to make certain I was reading it correctly.)

If you are not slimbrowser and are not putting up this pop up crap then why is your name Flashpeak, with the incorrect address similar to the proper one as the only method to contact Slimbrowser?  Originally I tried to contact Slimbrowser, and was surprised that the contact information addressed FlashPeak Inc.  When I give my address to someone, it is my name and correct spelling for my address.  I do not claim to be associated with some other entity that has full control over initiating problems.  So what is it?  Guilt by association?

A few extra clarifications:

1. Not only did you get the street name wrong, you also got the street number wrong. It's 7921 instead of 7821.

2. We don't serve any popup windows on slimbrowser website http://www.slimbrowser.net . Please notice that we don't own the domain www.slimbrowser.com which is owned by somebody else. The only ads we serve on www.slimbrowser.net is google's text ads which doesn't generate any popups. But it's possible that the popup might be invoked by some other malware installed on your PC even if the popup is displayed inside SlimBrowser. Since SlimBrowser is a standard web browser application, it can be called by any other program on your computer.

3. We do accept donations. But we are not a non-profit organization. We accept donation only because we don't charge for the software. There is no rule in the United States saying that you must be a non-profit org in order to accept donation.

We really have nothing to hide here. But you are really going after the wrong guy.

They protest too much. Still have concerns.

POSTED: Tuesday, April 09, 2013

Thank You Ripoff Report.  You truly are incredible and remarkable with making contact with agencies to which complaints have been filed on your site.  I am very thankful you exist, as you have helped me immensely.   Concerning Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser the saying "He who protest too much has something to hide" comes to mind as I read their rebuttal and remain concerned of their actions.  Four specific topics presented by Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser remain misleading for potential users.

1] POP UPS: It was only on Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser's site that the pop ups for "driver update products" appeared.  One could not even gain direct access to Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser's home page without either addressing or closing their pop up.  Google, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Bing, etc. allow access to their home page without pop ups first restricting a users access.

2] CONTACT INFORMATION: A mail address similar to the address given was the only method to contact Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser.  I did write them to inform them of my concerns for the product they were promoting.  According to the address given on their webpage for contact us their street was named Menier vs. Menler stated above.  Everything else remained correct: Name, street number, city, state, and zip code.  Considering the fact that it is common for me and others to receive mail with incorrect street name spellings, I am now concerned about how established this organization may be. Or is it possible that the US Postal Service operates differently in Texas than it operates in other US States?   Also since we are dealing with online functions, why is one not able to contact Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser online?

3] DONATE BUTTON: When I first signed up for Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser I found a donate button.  I am quite familiar with this function as I head a public charity which performs scientific research for engineering international development.  Nonprofit organizations are typically dependent upon donations for their survival.  I did donate to Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser  as I felt it was respectful to acknowledge their service.  This happened prior to the pop ups for "their driver update products" constantly appearing. However, once I donated, no further information regarding their nonprofit status was provided. Thus I question whether Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser has nonprofit status to which donations may be legally requested.  If they do not hold this status then requesting donations are inappropriate.

4] OTHER INACCURACIES IN THEIR REBUTTAL: Currently I question 'who are these people'?  They have wrongly; a) stated that I accepted a pop up from another site, b) provided the incorrect spelling for a street name to contact them, and c) requests money from donations and their pop ups products which posed me with lengthy hours to reprogram my system due to sever computer damage.

5] MY COSTS EXCEEDED $4000 TO CORRECT: My billable rate for the engineering work my charity provides exceeds $250 per hour on several contracts.  According to my piers and clients, I am not the idiot Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser has suggested I may be.  Ever if I were, I hold strongly to the principles of integrity which I am now concerned that the rebuttal from Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser does not cherish this value.  The $4000 in cost Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser has caused is largely due to my time required to fix their virus and/or bugs thereby preventing me to complete other beneficial tasks plus the fees I paid to other professionals to debug my system as a result of Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser's pop ups.

In summary, it is unfortunate because my letter sent to and returned undeliverable to Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser was to inform them of the problem with their pop up product and to offer my assistance to help them raise funds with integrity and value.  This will not happen if the company is promoting defective software and then blames its clients for their mistakes.  Much harm has been dumped on others for the sake of money and I fear that Flash Peak a.k.a. Slimbrowser may have possibly chosen this path instead of another.

There is nothing fraudulent about SlimBrowser.

AUTHOR: FlashPeak Inc. - ()

POSTED: Monday, April 08, 2013

SlimBrowser is a free web browser software published by FlashPeak Inc, a business officially incorporated in Austin, Texas, USA. As any other web browser producers such as Google or Mozilla, we are not responsible for the damages if you visit some fraudulent website unrelated to our business and get scammed. We didn't sell any product to this consumer. Actually, we don't sell anything via the SlimBrowser software. SlimBrowser is available for free to end users.  Although we didn't know the details, we believe that the popup the consumer mentioned came from a fraudulent website which scams people.

The address of our business mentioned by the consumer is incorrect and has typos. Both correct mail address and email contact information is clearly printed on this page http://www.slimbrowser.net/en/contactus.htm. The correct mail address is shown below:

FlashPeak Inc
7921 Menler Dr
Austin, Texas 78735

As for the $4000 repairing cost, for that much money, you can buy 4 brand new computers. We highly suspect that the people offering the repair services are scammers as well.

SlimBrowser doesn't contain virus or malware. It's available for public download and checking at http://www.slimbrowser.net . We make sure it's free of viruses before we release the software. For your reference, SlimBrowser has been fairly reviewed by hundreds of people on CNet download.com. Check out this link: http://download.cnet.com/SlimBrowser/3000-2356_4-10101563.html .
