I went on line to purchase WII games on cyber Monday. I searched for games and found the best price at smart game shopper.com. I purchased 3 games.

I was told I was getting $5 off for a first time shopper. I didn't realize I was signing up to become a "member" which allows them to charge me $19.95 EVERY MONTH to my credit card. My wife discovered the unexplained charge, and we had to call to cancel the membership.

No where on my receipt does it say I have joined as a member. I shop on line all of the time and know about having to join memberships. No where do I recall ever being told I was joining and agreeing to join. I know it was probably in the "fine print", but it was totally underhanded and unethical how they do this by labeling it a $5 discount for first time purchaser that most people would agree to.

membership scam

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

I too almost fell for this membership scam. When you buy online there is a boxat the bottom that signs you up as a BBV Best Brands Value club member. It is right above the submit order button.

I was saved because I searched for an internet discount coupon code...and instead learned of this most unscrupulous company and their scam.

WHAT is worse, many folks NEVER get the original product...it is always on back order...AND the garbage you get in the meantime is not returnable.

THERE is NO OPT OUT for the club. You can only cancl..but all product sent before you do is not returnable.

NO where except the end of checkout fine print at the submit order button...is there any mention that this is a buyers club. THIS is unscurpulous and I have notified Pam Bondi of the Attorney general's office.

The company has no contact people, uses only a PO BOX. and it is a Limited Liability Company.

In my opinion...you need to avoid them at all costs. NO reputable firm does business this way. Here is the sign up box:

"By checking the box and clicking on Submit Order I can proceed with my order and confirm that I have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy and Offer Details as outlined herein."
