I worked for this company at the end of 2005, regrettably, before finding out what they are doing to people. I APOLOGIZE to the general public for doing that. I regret that I 'sold" $500.00 before leaving in that first week. I write not as a victim, but because I did the rip-off, however, I had been "sold" too, then I passed it on until both I and my inadvertent victim learned better. I tried to contact the person I "sold" to before the 72 hours expired that Visa allows for reversals, but the company had made the sales information unavailable to me. That"s a matter of practice there. All the sold data goes into a black hole, except to management and the "back-end" (Keister) sellers, which handle the "reloads". The first-line sales staff "blows you away" with the up-front sale, then the "reloaders" get ready to blow you away some more when you try to make that pipe dream you bought with such well-meaning, honest hopes for your children and yourselves, perform to any degree.

SMC in Phoenix is a call center in which dozens of the youngest, dumbest (in the sense that they have not developed yet morally) sales workers cut their teeth on the general public, fresh meat for the owners and managers of SMC as well, many of whom are too lazy to pull their pants all the way up above the buttocks in the morning. You see their types on MTV. These young aspiring pseudo-professionals decide soon to move on to honest business or onto other "business Opportunities, known in the boiler room world as "Biz-Ops" (akin to special-ops, as in clandestine/destructive). The Phoenix, AZ employment papers have this company's lies splattered WEEKLY throughout their sales-cesspools-periodicals. SMC must advertise continuously because their ads are lies, else they'd not always be struggling to fill positions. Let's face it, if you are really going to average 60-100K as a young sales kid like their ads claim, are you going to quit (unless you stay so drunk at night that you can sleep well even with your conscience)? They can't keep people because they deceive everyone with whom they come in contact. I heard a kid there say in the elevator - "I'm gonna" go to hell for this". That was on about my 2nd or third day and was a part of what opened my eyes about SMC. Let me also say that you don't want to give out your credit card information over the phone. People, you have no idea.

SMC: The website,, it has a "contact us" link. It's a lie on its face. They are going to contact YOU, otherwise they'd have their contact information on that page. LOTS of companies might contact you though. Notice that at the SMC site, there is no street address, there is no telephone number,... there is no email address, and there is no owner's information, no BBB membership logos. It's just a blind link for you to disclose your contact information. If they call you and they don't make a sale (you are a flake), do you suppose they sell your contact information to other business opportunities operations? Did you know other "biz-op" companies can pay up to "$10.00 per lead for that data you submitted? Want some calls to your cell phone from dozens of Biz-op guys? Fill out that form. If you had a website that collected lists of people trying to contact you and you could make money on that data, would you? There you go.

And, so..Why no address for you to mail them or walk-in and maybe handle some of those nice products you saw on TV? Do you suppose they don't want any of their existing "clients" walking through that front door? Why are there Mag-card locking devices, security posed at the door? THINK, now. Why don't they sell to Residents of Arizona? If you specialized in only long-distance sales, what do you suppose the purpose for that would be? Doesn't that kind of fly in the face of an honest business attempt? Would you hide from your end-users or the general public? Why would they do that? Why do they have to staff security outside their door? Well, let's just assume it's not because everyone loves SMC? Do you suppose the owner has made political contributions to our Governor Janet Napolitano? How do they stay in business? Check it all out. I did, then quit.

Nothing personal here. I left them three years ago. I just saw one of those ridiculous infomercials and was amazed at their new twists. I looked them up and found nothing but SMC sales tripe at Google, when I realized there needed to be a link somewhere that had the right keywords, I thought I'd do repentance.

Final note. In the lobby the SMC Owner has perhaps a hundred pictures of himself with people. I noticed that many of the signatures had very, very similar writing. The guy really likes the use of media to make an impression. That's that one-way communication that works so well. No questions have to get answered. Its all fantasy, folks. They are selling dreams. It's the glitz. The only impression they should need to make is one single verifiable performance disclosure. Example: "Audit by xxx Company, 2007, 1% of our business owners made more than 1% profit", or whatever the truth might be. THEY CAN'T EVEN SAY THAT!!! How about "We refunded xxx.00 last year do to our non-performance"? Well, first of all, that wouldn't be too salesy, second; the refunds wouldn't amount to much because of the contracts you sign absolving them from any refunds.

Don't buy into this one folks. You'll almost certainly regret it.

You have helped to restore my faith in mankind, with so many people runnig scams and ripping people off in these hard economic times, at least you have shown there are still some good people in this world. I'm sure evryone will or has forgiven you.

Afterall, you were just dragged in by deception like so many others.

We all make mistakes and that's how we learn. It takes a big person to admit they are wrong and aplogize. Kudos Terry

I just want to say that I think SMC is a good business venture. my mom did this when I was younger, she bought lots of products, and went to the flea market, and some other places similar to that. She made LOTS of money! She stopped only because she got promoted at her job at that time and did not have time to do so. She did not sell online, only in person. She had the catalogs she gave to friends and family, whenever we had a yard/garage sale she made sure to have some extra products to put out for sale... It was a good business venture for her, and I plan on doing it soon, and having an online store. 

I agree with the smc employee, some people can sell like no other - they can sell ice to an eskimo. others cannot sell.  I do not work for smc, so i have no ties to them other than my mom having her own biz thru them years ago, and as i stated i myself having plans to sell the products. 

I think this lady has a grudge because she couldnt cut it as a sales person on the sales floor.  

Has "facts" listed that are not even fact! No truth to alot of what she was saying. I looked for myself.  There is info posted on the site... 

anyways, i just wanted to state this, because I dont want anyone to be deferred from starting their own business with SMC just because of one disgruntled employee.

ok, there is quite a few ways i can start this off, but i will start by saying im not in the management at all, and i have zero sway as to how things inside the doors go on, i just have control over my own actions.  that being said, i have heard several comments from people on the other end of the line with varying levels of stories, up to and including people reading stuff such as this, from this site.  so, i wanted to check out a story for my self, and i came across this gem.  now, so you all know, i am not here to argue.  i am here to find out information for myself, on my own accord.  but also, to answer this ... whatever this "report" is.  if anyone has any REAL information, please do let me know.  i would be happy to look it up for myself, for my own personal enlightenment.  i do want to know who i work for, and i do take "reports" like this seriously, as i am a good person, or at least i do try my best to be.

terry, maybe you left after your first week, because the sales quota was too high for you to meet, and you didnt make the kind of money you were hoping for?  i cant and wont assume, but i will answer a few of your observations.  (and yes, there is a sales quota, i wont lie about that.  there is expectation of member recruitment.  you know, to do things cush as pay the bills and keep the lights on?)  then ask for some for myself.  of course the information is locked once it goes into the system, its a legal lockout, so that loose credit card information isnt floating around for just anyone to see.  that isnt to hide a sale from you, its to protect peoples information that they trusted us with.  most people could and would appreciate that.  those terms you use, such as reloaders, dont apply to smc.  i do know other companies that use them, but your mixing up your companies.  those "reloaders", are people who reload the recording tape, and the sales prompts tape on a fixed recording of information.  call smc, and you get a person, not a machine.  so a reloader, isnt accurate for smc.  expecially seeing as how you were there for a week, as you claim, you cant possibly know the terminology.  not your fault.  as to your over generalization of the employees, there is an age range from 18 yr olds, some younger, to those well in their 50s, and even 60s.  you mean to tell us that they have not developed morality at that point in life?  a lot of the people there could be your mother, or grandmother even. 

as for cutting their teeth, most of us come from previous sales backgrounds already, so cutting teeth, again, isnt an accurate term.  and to address the butt hugging jean slingers, maybe you didnt notice, or didnt care to mention, that several people show up to work in full suits and ties?  in fact, it is in the dress code to wear no jeans, at all, and it is business casual, with a buttoned and collared shirt for men.  far different picture dont you agree?  smc does have hiring freezes, like anywhere else.  they arent always on the prowl for new fools, as youd like people here to think.  also, they dont struggle to fill positions, we do however struggle to have people who can handle a sale.  people, unlike you, who dont give in after a week because they cant hack it.  but thisnt personal, just mentioning a fact, that some people can sell, others cant.

the ads your speaking of as to 60k to 100k a yr... ive never seen one.  but id be happy to try to find one, because i wish that was my paycheck.  in fact, it is known from before you are even hired that it is minimum wage, + commissions, based on your personal sales.  maybe you didnt read the very non fine print?  also, the "" you mentioned, doesnt say contact us.  it very clearly states that "by requesting this information you may be contacted by an smc rep...".  so of course they will be contacted, it says so right there!  and again, to point out a flaw, it does give a street address, at the bottom, to member services center, which people are encouraged to stop by.  it does have a telephone number, again, right there on the page.  no email address?  why need one?  your requesting info from us, not the other way around.  no bbb membership logo is needed, or any of that stuff, because, again, your requesting information from us.  you want to see the bbb report?  go to the bbb website and look it up. 

as to the selling of information, sadly, i cant answer intelligently on that, as i do not know.  as i said in the begining, i am not management.  you however, also do not know.  you were there a week.  ive been there several months, and i dont know that.  how could you?  now, one thing i can say in your favor, is that yes, i have had people say they have filled out forms for OTHER COMPANIES to contact them, and we get their ifnormation.  how that works i dont know.  but ive never heard someone say, ever, that they requested info from us, and then they get calls from xyz company instead.  ever.  period.  take that as you will.

you want to walk into the call center?  look it up.  its on 25th ave and dunlap.  suite 200, second floor.  that is the call center for memberships.  we dont house any products in the facility, so no you cant check them out.  want to?  travel to fontana california, and check out the warehouse and take a guided tour.  why the locking devices?  lets see now... there are hundreds of computers, servers, and oh yeah... live customers!  they deserve privacy.  would you want to be doing a credit card or bank transaction with someone standing right over you?  go stand at an atm, and let someone stand right behind you when doing a bank inquiry.  would you approve of that?  i think not.  or would you want a total stranger to stand right next to you as you give out your credit card information to your cell phone provider to pay a bill?  come on now, use some common sense.  we lock the facility for protection, our customers protection.  for the customers, not from the customers.

security posted at the door?  again... to make sure people dont try to walk through when an employee goes in.  again, to protect our customers.  also, to protect the employees.  you know... cars, personal posessions, women walking out at 2am when their shift is over, etc etc.  would you want your little sister walking out at 2am into a dark parking lot alone?  i wouldnt.  id thank that security guard, not complain about it.

not sell to arizona?  whered you hear that?  we absolutely do.  we have several members right in this town.  that whole spiel of yours is a mute point.  we do have several smc members and clients in arizona, in this very town in fact.  and the front lobby you speak of... theres no pictures, other than local artists artwork.  get your stories straight.  walk into MY office and find out.  25th ave and dunlap, suite 200.  take a look, i promise you will mistaken.  end of story there.

now, i cant say intelligently why there are so many reports on goole about why smc failed people.  maybe they got lazy and didnt try to do the kit?  maybe they didnt have the drive they thought they would.  maybe a housewifehousehusband wanted to try to earn some money at home, but their man/lady complained about spending the money, so it turned into an issue.  i dont know.  neither do you.  i wont presume to speak intelligently on something i dont know about.  i do ask, though, that if ANYONE has any actual PROOF of wrongdoing, any proof at all, that they have been scammed or betrayed in some way by a company that i show up to work in the morning for, in a good faith effort to make an honest days pay, please do tell!  hit me up here on this site, or email me on the side.

and no, i will not get into ANY legal arrangement with you, or battle, or discussion.  this is for my own personal knowledge of who i go to work for in the morning, and if i am doing people a service and providing an opportunity, or if im ripping people off, as some claim.  want to chat?  lets do it.  want to complain?  show some facts.  i have.
