this place was good 14 years ago, but now all they care about is making money.  they don't care about the customer.  we purchased 2 new sofas from sofa u love 5/30/11 trusting this franchise because 14 years ago this place was great and addressed all my issues with allergies and chemical sensitivities.  i've have had 7 pieces of theirs from 1997 in my home with never a problem til now.  THIS STORE IS NO LONGER A PLACE TO TRUST OR LOVE.   my husband and i ordered 2 sofas from vicky in the santa monica store. we told her we had allergies to down, and chemical sensitivities (not a problem 14 years ago) we also told her my husband needed a firm couch for his back. in the past their foam cushions and cotton slipcovers gave me no reaction. i asked her if the "passion suede" could be allergenic to me.  she said no. so i ordered this material (new to me) for the slipcover.  i paid $1000 down and was going to pay cash for the second sofa. Thursday 6/16/11 when the delivery came there was only one sofa. the delivery guys apologized. they said they would bring the other sofa tuesday. the one sofa they did send was too soft. so they were going to deliver a firmer sofa. (the least of our problems it turns out) then i began to have a serious allergic reaction to that one sofa.  I have allergies, but not asthma. Their sofa gave me asthma!  Asthma is very dangerous.  also scary to someone not used to it.  so i looked and found that some cushions had down. Friday 6/17 vicki was on a day off so i called the burbank store where they make the sofas.  the girl there said she forgot to check all the pillows. they would switch out the pillows tuesday. no apology from her. We took the down pillows off the couch. But mystified I still had asthma.  we moved upstairs away from the couch.  I called vicki Saturday 6/18/11 since she was now back in the store and told her about our problem.  We communicated several times that day. By 6pm i called vicki and told her not to deliver the second couch. that we had to figure out what was wrong with the first and how to fix it.  At first she said no to this.  then she conceded and said ok they would not deliver the second sofa yet.  as the evening progressed my husband  looked further and found a feather in the foam cushion. He then removed all of the cushions and washed all of the slip covers. and, put the cushions outside on the patio. Mystified, i still had asthma.  The couch itself smelled of something, it drifted up the stairwell.  My husband could smell it too.  we couldn't tell what it was.  my husband sniffed everything inside and out and found that the foam seat cushion had a layer of something white on it that had this same smell. so did the couch itself which was too heavy to get out of the house. every time i go to the room i still get asthma. thank god my husband had strong inhalers for asthma in the house!  By saturday night i knew we had to get this sofa out of our house for good.  I have lost all trust in the integrity of this company.  I was racking my brain to figure out what was wrong, maybe they kept feathers near foam, maybe there were chemicals beings used.  Still having asthma each time i would walk in the room. At this point only the sofa frame was in the room wrapped in foam and passion suede.  I realized it doesn't even matter why anymore why.  I have to return it.  So i called Vicki today 6/19 telling her the nightmare we'd been through, how ill i'd been, that i had lost income from being ill, and that sofa u love would have go back. Even though i was pleasant she became very angry.  She told me not only would they NOT take this sofa back, but now they would deliver the second toxic sofa tuesday (when she had said would not happen less than 24 hours prior).  she was punitive.  the customer in front of her(the new sale) meant more to her than me, a customer that had already paid.  she only cared about keeping her commission,not for the store's reputation.  i told her that would mean double allergies to me.  so she hung up on me.   the store has liablity here for my health.  I am a business consultant. This is bad business.  there is a no return policy.  but a policy should be bent if someone has this type of serious health reaction. When something like this happens, the seller should take the merchandise back and refund the customer, have the customer sign a release form that they will not say bad things about the company anymore and will take no further action. i would also print and update to this saying that sofa u love took care of me.  I've posted complaints in 2 places so far and would update those.  It costs sofa u love very little to pay the customer, take back the merchandise and not lose any more business from bad press.  I will print an honest retraction if i am taken care of.  So far I am out $1250 (since the delivery guys insisted on an extra $250 cash) and the loss of income from not being able to work, which is not too bad so far.  The longer the sofa is here, the greater the loss of income could be.  So be smart sofa u love management, give me my money, take back your sofa,  and lets be done with this.

Sofa U Love came through for me with brand new sofas

Dear Consumer, this is an update to my former report.  Within one week Sofa U Love sent me 2 brand new sofas that fit my requirements and took away the first one.  That time included the 2-3 days of calls and emails to come to an agreement.  But that is a short period of time given that they needed to understand my problem before solving it.   Johnny and Vicki were very helpful.  Vicki became very kind and understanding.  Johnny figured out how to make the sofa for me and made it happen quickly!  Now that's hands on!  I really appreciated that they came through for me.  The sofas are very comfortable for both me and my husband.  The allergies have subsided.  Thanks for making these Sofas U Love!
