My husband and I saved our money for two years and ordered kitchen countertops online from this company. We thought we researched everything properly and spent a lot of time on the phone with Dewayne Michaels, the owner. He kept calling us and reminding us to order, saying that it would take 3 weeks to arrive. We finally sent him a money order for about $4000 CDN.

Right after the money was sent off Michaels seemed to fall off the face off the earth. Months later, my husband finally reached him by phone and he made up some bogus story about not being able to call Canada because of his phone plan, yet he had no problem months earlier mailing us tile samples. He said there was some big conspiracy against him and the people running his web site had left him in the lurch so he wasn't receiving any more orders and as a result wasn't making any money. Therefore we would have to wait a while. So we waited and we waited. (This was last July.)

In November we tried to reach him again and couldn't, and my husband remembered Dewayne saying that he was tyring to get the Bob Vila site to post a link to his new venture - selling DVDs helping people install countertops themselves. I posted on the Vila site asking if anyone knew of this guy and lo and behold, at least five people responded, all with the same story.

He has several different phone numbers and addresses, including web addresses, and none of them seem to work or else he just doesn't respond or answer the phone. He admitted to me that he owes about $30,000, which he doesn't consider a big deal. To those of use who worked hard to save up that money it is a very big deal. We have given him the benefit of the doubt and given him more time to respond, but it seems that he has again disappeared and his Bob Vila link which is under Products and Services, Cabinetry and Countertops (the first link) is bogus. You can't order or contact anyone on that web site. I think he just had those bits and pieces of videos and cobbled
together a web site to keep us off his back while he makes a getaway.

We are tired of waiting and there are about half a dozen of us who have been stolen. We are from various corners of the US and Canada, but we are all pulling together to get this guy. Internet fraud is a federal crime, so maybe we can put this guy away for a long time.
