I am in agreement with the person who filed a complaint about SopCast. Fortunately, I was not ripped off for $74+ dollars. I lost $1.03 through their scam.

Yes, I was careful to uncheck all things. No, I did not read any such "one time processing fee". But I did read a GUARANTEE that they would NEVER charge my card. They needed my card only for verification of my national registration. Oh ha ha ha. I am a fool. Did I want to purchase the 90 something cent deal for unlimited movies? No I did not. I declined. I made certain that it was "NO" to charges. I continued the registration process and when asked for donation, I declined that as well. SopCast was not authorized charge even 1 red cent to my card.

They claimed they needed my debit card to verify I was a U.S. citizen with a long-winded explanation that movies could not be played in certain countries. That by using my credit card they could verify my nation of residence. The site GUARANTEED that they would never charge my card. They said GUARANTEED TO NEVER CHARGE. Reassured and Reassurements N.E.V.E.R Oh they GUARANTEED you see? But I checked my online banking and there it was, a charge of $1.03.

Upon seeing that unauthorized charge I immediately contacted my banking institution and reported my card as lost, so sopcast cannot charge anything more to my account. Nada, invalid. You people may have ripped me off for $1.03, but you wont steal any thing more. The card # is now destroyed... nada... zilch. No access to another dime.

I followed up with a swift report of an "unauthorized charge of $1.03" for my bank to investigate the fraud and refund that $1.03 to me.

Very unethical, misleading ... FRAUD.

Further, sopcast never even sent anything to my email address (such as a registration that was promised) and, when I tried to log in with the information I gave (username and password), it didn't even recognize my login credentials.

What a ripoff.

I have to disagree. It is not that common. It is common however, that scammers peddling software and pulling scams on the internet is quite common... even if its $1 skimmed from multiple accounts, dollars add up into big money.

If you had read my comments, you would have known (besides never having heard of Sopcast beyond 2 days ago), and the unauthorized transaction,

#1 . I never received any verification email

#2 . My account doesn't even work. It still doesn't. I entered the credentials I signed up with, but no go. It tells me its invalid login information. I managed to log in as "anonymous" with NO account access to the so-called "5 days of free movies". I also read elsewhere, where some were complaining the software did not work at all.

And that, friend, is when I decided to check in to ripoff report to understand had I been victimized by just another internet swindle. And where was my card information. And, I unapologetically posted.

Now, put yourself in my situation after 15 minutes of researching this strange company who just skimmed your credit card information... the sickening realization a stranger has your credit card information and just how "patient" you would be feeling?? If I had "just waited". Nice, In Theory. Like... 48 hours, that is, business days, yes? Let's see. It's Friday night, so, we're talking... the remainder of Friday, and Saturday, and Sunday, and Monday and Tuesday. By that time, they've ran with your credit card # from here to Wazoo and wracked up thousands in charges, including identity theft.

Reasonably, I was furious when I saw an unauthorized charge on my card. I will outraged the next time it happens to me. Nobody in their right mind would "be patient" when a strange company charges an unauthorized transaction to their card, especially when the agreement was, "we will never charge your card, GUARANTEED". I am not at all regretful for immediately reporting my card as LOST/STOLEN because I did not authorize a charge. Its just bad policy for verification.

However, I continued to work with the app, and it seems to work quite well. Very well in fact. I am relieved realizing it was not a scam.

I do not appreciate scams that have stolen money from me, to which I wont give a bleeding cent. I have became extremely distrustful of predatory internet marketing. In fact, in the event I have lost money as I did in the past, I will pursue it to the Attorney General in the state of which the fraud originated. I was distrustful to begin with since I did not know any real background on Sopcast.

But after a short bit tinkering with it the quality of the app seems to work quite well.

Well if you would have waited, Sopcast would have put the $1.03 back into your account. The take it out as the transaction is the only way to verify your information. It is a very, very common practice whenever you are asked for your card number to verify identity. Hotels also do it when you make reservations ! Sopcast did it to me and put the money back in without me saying a word about it !
