We have had problems with this company since we moved to Wyoming two years ago.  Our first incident was our first winter here.  Our furnace went out and they sent a man out to repair it.  He wasn't there LITERALLY not even 5 minutes.  Our furnace broke down that night after business hours so no fix.  We called our landlord again and told him how long the repairman was here and it didn't work.  He called one of his friends to come fix our furnace.  After working on it an HOUR, he found the problem and fixed it.  We received a fee for the repairman from Source Gas (I think it was $71-3).  I called and told them how long he was here and that he did not fix it at all.

I told them my landlord had it repaired by someone else (it turns out it was an easy fix, a wire had not been connected.  It was something the gas company's repair man should have found himself.  He had told us it just needed to be reset, and pushed the reset button and left).  Anyways, I had my landlord call them to verify that the repairman didn't repair anything so we could be reimbursed the fee.  They wouldn't reimburse it.  Then, we started receiving collection notices from them.  I asked what it was in regards to, we had been making monthly payments so what gives?  It was for the repairman.  Even though we were making payments, no payments were being applied to this service fee.  Now, not only did they have a collection company trying to get the funds, they were still charging us for it on our bill!!

Our second issue, was we had to move, and instead of transfering our deposit over to the new place, they cut a check and recharged us for a deposit on the new place.  After a year, they said we still owed on our $200 deposit!! How is that possible??  Looking at our statement, the internet statement, and what the rep said on the phone, NOT A SINGLE ONE matched!!!  It took the rep a while to figure what she was looking at and said, well it's there.  At that point (this past spring) I told her they could keep whatever deposit they said was on there and that was that.  Then I proceeded to contact a different gas company.  Here's the kicker.  You can pick a different gas company in your area, BUT Source Gas is still the one providing it.  You can't get away from them.  No matter what, you have to deal with them.  I told the other company what we've been dealing with from them, and they said they've heard from quite a few people about how Source Gas behaves.

Now my current issue.  We haven't moved like we had hoped, and so here we are another winter approaching and needing heat.  My kids had been sick a few weeks ago, and temps were dipping down to the 20's.  I sucked it up and called the gas company to see about getting it restarted.  There is a small balance left on the account, and I asked if we could post date the payment for payday and re-setup the account so my kids could have heat.  NOPE! Wouldn't budge.  Told me to see if I could get the money from someone.  Now, we were over a week out 'til payday, but fine.  Whatever.  I tried calling again today to set it up.  This time, we have a warning out and temps are to dip into the teens and single digits.

My husband gets paid in TWO DAYS. I tried again to setup a post dated payment and the deposit junk and still wouldn't budge.  The rep asked a supervisor and still no.  They said if we can pay on Thursday, then call back and they will start setting up the account Friday.  The temps are going to start dipping tomorrow night (Wednesday)!!  Can anyone PLEASE help??? How is it legal for a company to be a monopoly in anyway and get away with it??  They have no competition (with the exception of gas prices), they are the only middleman.  They are corrupt and unfair.  If multiple people are having alot of issues with them,  then why hasn't anything been done about them?

How, exactly, are they corrupt and unfair?

What should be done about them for wanting the money owed them?

NOTHING illegal here...NO Ripoff.

NO, I DON'T work for them.
