I was contacted by this organization to give nearly $50 bucks for trashbags.
They do not have a website, theirs is "under construction", they are not listed in the BBB, Charity Navigator, etc., or with give.org

There are over 500,000 organizations with the 501 C(3), but they are not ALL legitimate.

I've always said: "Support our troops, or stand in front of them."

Our Vets deserve better than the "picnic" they say they give.

If they did give a picnic? Why not post photos (oops, I'm helping them out here....).

Anyway, check with give.org and never give any credit card information over the phone! Ever!

hawaii??

AUTHOR: 4real - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, March 27, 2010

First of all, the Southern California Wheelchair Veterans Association does not call Hawaii hence the title "Southern California". Unless there was a mix up in numbers or a fowarded phone call, they only contact local southern California residents. There are picnics, bbqs and gift baskets handed out for the holidays to local southern California VA hospitals, on top of much needed medical equipment and supplies to keep them comfortable. Solicating photos of hospital patients is illegal. Lastly no credit card, bank information, or personal information is required over the phone to return the favor to our local disabled and paralyzed veterans. This orginization does not sell, solicate, or trade any information either.

THESE VETS DESERVE IT......

AUTHOR: Crystalskroch - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Easter Baskets, Christmas baskets, Picnics and BBQ's, electric wheelchairs, laptops and computers with internet service to keep in touch with family, dvds monthly and dvd players, also much needed financial support of many veterans programs from helping our homeless veterans to spinal chord injury programs. This is whats been done by this organization for Southern Californias veterans confined to hospitals year round, for almost 9 years now.... A few bad comments in 9 years is really saying some pretty good things about this organization. What other organizations do things on the HONOR SYSTEM, NO MONEY NOW PAY IN 30 DAYS?!?!?! These vets are our fathers mothers, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts and uncles. Even worse, they are our kids.. We have very young men and women returning from overseas wounded, paralyzed, or missing limbs every day...What these people do for our veterans friends and neighbors is great so give these people a pat on the back and let them keep doing what they do so well!

P.S. posting pics of hospitalized veterans is pretty demeaning and against government law!

I like the trash bags

AUTHOR: Bob - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, January 01, 2010

I've been "buying" very high-quality trash bags for several years from these guys.  I can't vouch for whether or not they put my donation to good use, but the folks on the phone are very professional.  (I'll bet they'd love to have someone donate the time to set up a decent website for them.)

Good organization

AUTHOR: Brent O - (U.S.A.)

Some of what the whistle blower says is true, this LOCAL organization is not listed on give.org or the charity navigator. The web site is under construction and lacks a certain level of professionalism - hense the reason I landed on this website. HOWEVER before dismissing this organization a little research proves that they have done tremendous work for veterans in Southern CA. You can call Loma Linda Veterans Hospital at 909-583-6011 or Long Beach Veterans hospital and both organizations will rave about the good that this organization has done at their hospitals (donating electric wheel chiars and giving gifts for bedside use for an example).

Southern California Wheelchair Veterans Do Not Call ANYWHERE but Southern Cali.....

AUTHOR: Crystalskroch - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 16, 2009

I am an employee of Southern California Wheelchair Veterans in Lake Elinore Ca.

The Southern California Wheelchair Veterans earns money to support

programs (like veterans day picnics, and bbq's for vets )dedicated to thanking

these men and women who are confined to

hospital beds day in and day out. They simply sell trash bags in order to EARN the money for the programs they put on for our veterans.

Southern California Wheelchair Veterans are a Local Organization ONLY. (Hence the name " Southern California Wheelchair Veterans ") .

Honestly it does not matter what town, city or state you live in. . They are

AMERICAS veterans.

People don't understand how lonely and sad it can be to live like this.

Many of these guys go totally forgotten during holidays.

Our soldiers, our heros. These men and women have given thier lives and health

for us, our children, and our grandchildren to live safely, happily, and free. It

astonishes me that people actually consider buying a roll of environmentally

friendly garbage bags (something you buy anyways) to help support a paralyzed

veteran a Rip - Off! ! And KUDOS to the ladies making the phone calls, selling trash bags to help support programs for paralyzed and disabled veterans. . keep up the good work girls!!!!
