I have had many issues with Sovereign Bank, and just suck it up and ate it. However, this time I have to draw the line.
On February 7, 2008 my husband made a deposit for me, 2 checks. 1 being my paychake for $358.55 and a personal check of $1000 from back child support. The following morning, I went online to check the account as I do almost every morning. The deposit wasnt showing. I brought the concern to my husband and he had the recipt to prove the deposit. Later that day, my husband said the website was not working so he watch and get back to me when it was up and running again. It didnt. My husand called the customer service line that evening, and spoke to a representative. She stated the website was down and they were qorking quickly to get it restored ( one of the many times the website fails to work proplery) My husband asked if she could see the deposit on the account. She stated they were deposited on 2/08/08. He asked if she had any idea when they would clear. She said the payechk would be clear in full on Monday 2/11/08 and the personal check would be partialled cleared on 2/11/08 with the remainder on Tuesday 2/12/08.
The following morning on Saturday 2/09/08- I went online to see if the account was available, it was showing an available balance of over $500.00. This pleased us as we needed to get some things taken are of.
I checked the acct online on Monday 2/11/08 still showing the same available balance, while it was 5:00am I figured the updates had not been done yet, since the available balance was not rising, based on what the rep told us on the phone. Now Tuesday 2/12 the rep told us it would be fully cleared. I rushed off to work being called in for overtime and working a 14 hour day. My husband took care of some errands. My huasband noticed some inconsitant fees on the account. There were 8 "$33 Unavailable Fees". That was $264 of my money they just took. He called the bank branch and spoke to a few people, and explained what the rep had said. They refunded 3 of those fees, only $99 given back for THIER mistake?
My husband then went and deposit my next paycheck. The reciept given shows an available balance of $198.00. My husband went and got gas, and valentine gifts for my children, myself and my father. The next day we again are getting hit with more Unavailable Fees. This ended up being a holiday weekend, so we had to wait to speak with the branch manager for Tuesday 2/19/08. My husband called and told them what happened AGAIN. After a full day of the run around, my husband was told based on the reciept time and a charge coming through right after it changed the available balance and we went over it.
Now I find myself confused. Did they not understand that this problem STILL goes back to the Rep telling us the money would be fully available on Tuesday 2/12/08. At this point, my entire account is overdrawn $223.00 and Sovereign walked away with 13 "$33 Unavailable Fees" Thats $429!!! Since 2/14/08 I have had NO money! This is a family of 6! We had to roll change to get money for gas just to go back and forth to work. When I deposit my paycheck again, which will only be about $400, they will take an additional $223 right off the top because of all these fees. That leaves me with less than $200 o do food shopping, pay bills and pay for gas to go back and forth to work.
I have had it... I trust my money in this institution, which overs protection to my money, only to have it stolen by the same people that ask us to trust them with our money. Now, I dont know about anyone else, but I dont make enough to have the little I have stolen from me. When is someone going to take action on this bank? Where else can I turn for help?
