The claim that Spamhaus sells something that is provided free is a bit misleading. Spamhaus sells access to a number of lists, one of which is a combined list of the CBL and NJABL blacklists, one of which is its own generated blacklist, and one which is a combination of the two. If you configure blacklists, you understand that a single query occurs faster than three, so there is the value-add. Further, it is a legitimate service being sold and does nothing to undercut competing "hosting services." Spamhaus provides a valuable service to the web and email-hosting community, of which I am a member.
