Spanos Imports of Daytona has learned that it is far more profitable to fraudulently sell ACCIDENT DAMAGED imported cars than it is to sell them as they are represented. Furthermore, they have done it on more than one occasion.

About a month ago, I purchased a 2000 SAAB 9-3 from Spanos Imports. The car was sold as a "great" used
car in "excellent" condition - still "under the factory
warranty". However, this SAAB has suffered a front end collision. Furthermore, it was not properly or completely repaired. Worse yet, the accident was intentionally covered up with a new bumper cover
and body trim. If that isn't bad enough, like many other auto accidents, this one did not show up on Carfax.

I found the accident damage when I brought the car to SAAB service for warranty repair on the air
conditioning unit. The front end accident had caused the vehicle's horn to puncture the air conditioning condenser coil.

Later, SAAB service uncovered that the tubular steel bumper was cracked in three places and the body panels on the car were out of alignment. Of course, none of this $3,000+ damage is covered under the factory warranty the car was sold with. Factory warranties do
not cover damage due to accident or misuse.

Nimnicht SAAB of Jacksonville told me that a SAAB authorized dealer would not have even sold me a vehicle in this condition due to safety reasons alone. Spanos has refused to provide any compensation or repairs on the vehicle. They have also refused to take the vehicle
back. The resale value on my vehicle is only a fraction of what I have just paid - $13,000 (on a
loan with interest). Spanos Imports of Daytona is a licensed dealership in the state of Florida.

I have since contacted individuals from across the nation that have purchased vehicles from Spanos
Imports. Although Spanos is a small "boutique" dealership, they have still managed to burn more
than one with this terrible way of doing business. They sell cars on Ebay and through other venues. With this kind of concealed damage, some may not know of the
problems until months after they have purchased. Such accident damage poses a safety hazard, extreme loss on vehicle value, and expensive repair bills. These cars
are being sold in "like new" condition with balances on the factory warranty. It is complete fraud.

SPANOS SELLS CARS WITH UNDISCLOSED DAMAGE.

AUTHOR: Nicholas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 21, 2006

Here are the facts and pictures regarding this case and Spanos' supposed rebuttal:

"As the owner of Spanos Imports of Daytona Florida, I would like to assure both former and future customers that the preceding story regarding a damaged Saab 9-3 is exactly that...a story."

Yes, a true story that started when I purchased a 2000 SAAB 9-3 from Spanos Imports on 4/5/2003.

"Worse yet, it is a story fabricated by a former employee who was fired for stealing. While we run reference and background checks on all potential employees, a clean record does not always guarantee a clean individual, as I have certainly learned."

Alex/Vic, you really shouldn't be making up such crazy lies. I've never worked for your supposed company. I'm not even in the automotive business. Would you buy a car from someone who not only covers up accident damage, refuses compensation, but also lies 3 years later to feebly try to cover up a legitimate complaint? Read on ...

"I have owned and operated Spanos Imports of Daytona Florida for over a decade, and let me assure you, there is no way whatsoever that I would jeopardize my business reputation by selling an automobile with undisclosed damages. This practice is not only highly illegal, it goes against the fundamental business practices that have made us one of the most well respected import dealers in the state of Florida."

No, as Spanos Imports and everyone else knows full well, selling used cars "as is" is not illegal which is EXACTLY how Spanos sold my car. It's probably how they sell all their used cars. *Remember*, a factory warranty will NOT even begin to cover damage due to an accident. As such, selling accident damaged cars and covering it up isn't illegal either - it's just WRONG and obvious bad business which is why you might be reading this complaint.

"Furthermore, as each vehicle we offer is carefully handpicked for quality and luxury, there is no opportunity for an automobile in this condition to ever enter our inventory. We run a Carfax report on every vehicle and take great pride in our researched choice leading up to the acquisition of each automobile we sell. "

This is one of Spanos' favorite BS lines. What they don't like to say is just how easy it is for all sorts of accident damage to get right past Carfax. This car has a clean carfax to this day as carfax ONLY covers accidents that are REPORTED to the police and documented.

"As an example of the far-reaching fabrication in this 9-3 story, I find it amusing that the author of the "rip-off report" to which this rebuttal is aimed stated,
I have since contacted individuals from across the nation that have purchased vehicles from Spanos Imports. Although Spanos is a small "boutique" dealership, they have still managed to burn more than one with this terrible way of doing business."

One lie after another. I did contact individuals and found several that were sold damaged vehicles. None wanted to come foward. HOWEVER, to further prove this point you might want to take a look at one of the first feedbacks Spanos received while selling on Ebay. It reads "very nice vehicle, but had leaky windshield and broken door in back. overall B+". Again, Spanos sells a damaged car to an unsuspecting consumer. Keep in mind, Spanos has only sold some 80 cars on Ebay since 2002! That leaves a lot more that were sold through other venues.

"I wonder how exactly this individual contacted "individuals from all across the nation" without a copy of our sales invoices, as it would be next to impossible to replicate our customer list? Just another line in this bogus story exposing the sloppy malice of the disgruntled individual who wrote it."

No, Vic/Alex I don't need "sales invoices" to find people you have ripped off ? but I do have mine.

"I have asked "The Rip-off Report" to remove the item, yet they have refused. The Rip-off Report is but a simple platform for unfiltered commentary, having no responsibility for the truth of its' content. As a result, the only reasonable course of action I have is to write this rebuttal. It's a sad world when a man's business can be so blatantly slandered and there is little he can do to protect or defend himself."

Now for the real truth ? Spanos has hired several law firms over the past three years to send threatening letters to me. Yes, this is truly a dirty operation. They actually threatened to sue me several times for filing a ripoff report. You'll find a picture of one of the letters along with other documentation in this ripoff report.

"If I were to publish the truth regarding the dismissal of the former employee who wrote this report, I would certainly be sued. "

Your former employee is an imaginary lie , but you might be sued someday soon for selling me an accident damaged car.

LOL. Vic/Alex Spanos couldn't even use their real names or location to file this rebuttal. So typical.

XXXX

So, what's the deal Alex? It's been over three years now. You've tried to threaten me with two different law firms. You've filed a completely false (and very LAME) rebuttal to this ripoff report. You STILL haven't called to offer compensation and make this thing right. Give me a call. Take the car back or let's talk about some other deal. You ripped me off big time and you've ripped off others as well. Until you decide to start being an HONEST car dealer you can enjoy these ripoff reports.

I no longer fear wrongful litigation from you or your attorney goons. Your false ripoff report filed under a complete alias paints you as the liar you are. Go ahead and take me to court. Maybe then, I'll get justice. You think any judge is going to back you and your fraudulent business practice when I have nothing but pages and pages of documentation proving the accident damage done to my car? Heck, I still have the car WITH the accident damage. I have current and former employees at Nimnicht that observed and reported the damage that was done to my car and covered up. They even fixed some of it through good will. I've also included some of that in this ripoff report. Remember, it's only a fraction of what I really have. You got it backwards. I got nothing to hide and nothing to lose. YOU are the one who is sitting with something to lose and a LOT to hide at this point. ***I can and will prove beyond any doubt that your dealership sold me an accident damage car where the damage was NOT disclosed and previously covered up with poor bodyword and not fixed! This is and has been the only claim I am making in this ripoffreport. NOTHING wrong with that. It's the truth. You don't like it? TOO BAD. CORRECT your mistakes and we can make this ripoff report read a little better. Your refusal to compensate is apparent and obvious at this point and time and since the purchase of said vehicle 3 years ago! Remember, IT IS NOT SLANDER OR LIBEL IF IT'S TRUE.

PS. The tubular steel bumper is still original ? cracked in three places. The crummy re-paint job on the car has been peeling for the past two years. It was so bad I was forced to repaint the hood so the car didn't look like it had leprosy. Other portions of the car's paint are peeling as well due to the poor coverup job. The Bondo work is horrible. I've included the invoice for that repair in this documentation as well. I've been UNABLE to sell this car due to the accident damage! Like I said, I hope you and your business enjoys these TRUTHS being exposed on the Internet.
