I am a property manager and needed security guard coverage. I called special security force in Phoenix Arizona because the promise great service at low prices on their web site. Someone by the name of Bill told me that he would meet me at the site and could start the service for me. Well I ended up waiting for more than 2 hours and no one ever showed up from special security force to meet me at my property which is centrally located and highly visible since it is a shopping center. On their web site they advertise a guard in 10 min, well that never happened. They also advertise that all their employees are ex-police officers etc., well if you look on Craigs List at:

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/sec/1954295298.html

you will see that they hire anyone with no experience needed!! they also don't show any references and they don't have their business address listed as well. I find all this very deceiving and false. I ended up calling another company to do my service and I am happy with them but I would strongly advice anyone from hiring this special security and definitely don't listen to this guy Bill they have working there since he is a liar and not professional at all. Very bad experience over all and a big waste of time.

SSF under US Dept of Labor Investigation

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Notice to all former employees of Special Security Force:

There is a current Department of Labor investigation underway on SSF.  For all employees wishing to file complaints on SSF payroll violations, you can contact the US Department of Labor.  Advise them that you wish to contact the investigator (Charmaine Newman) and give her information regarding your experiences with SSF.

Also, be aware that Mike Griffith, one of the owners of SSF, has formed a new company, United Metro Security Force, LLC, which has two trade names it is operating under, Special Security Force and United Metro Security.

This is not real

As a previous property manager and security officer, I know for a fact that you must be fluent in English. The misuse of advice instead of advise, as well as other grammatical and spelling errors, lets us know that the "friend" of the disgruntled employee wrote this under an assumed name. I have had no experience with this company. I was looking for reviews on them, I wanted honest ones and I am sorely disappointed with what is a very obviously upset person looking to hurt their employer.

He wasn't the first, but will be the last if my lawyers have anything to do with it...

Firstly, I love how you seem to think that your story makes any sense, this must be Torrez. Your company was notified 3-4 hours in advance of the call off, most employers are happy with 1 hour notice, so for you to say that it was "shortly" before the shift, is ridiculous.

Secondly you said and I quote:
"Per company policy, we required a doctors note to which the employee could not provide. As proof, I suggested a picture to ensure this employee that I could verify the emergency circumstances that would have lead to him calling in."

You are basicly saying that he would have needed to bring in a doctors note BEFORE he could take off. (No professinal does that, they wait for the doctors note when the employee returns to work. STANDARD PROCEDURE.) NEVER have I, been asked by any of my employers to get out of bed while sick to brig them a doctors note, which is basicly what you are saying you did here. (Do you see how you make no sense? Liars rarely do) Furthermore, your company never provided  a employee handbook that explained the call off policy, and it was requested several times.

As far as the pictures, your deffination of "suggested" is highly off. You called him back 5 minutes after he spoke with a dispatcher and demanded he send you a picture. I know this because I was with him on they way to the hospital when you called and the phone was on speaker.

This was just one of the many UNPROFESSIONAL conducts you exhibited. And I felt people had the right to know how you treated and spoke to your  employees. I faild to menetion the constant threatening of hours being cut, the demanding of someone to fill a shift that was not theirs on their day off without having the common decency to ask first, the location removal, I could go on. I never heard so many complants until this company was introduced to my family. You are absolutely right, he was probably one of your best employees, one of the hardest workers, and most respectful people I know. Yet he was paid minimum wage and was constantly threatened. And was in the end, wrongfully terminated.

you are right, this has nothing to do with your sales staff, but has EVERYTHING to do with the overall professionalism of this company. Who knows, maybe SSF could be a great company, with employees that a treated with respect, and therefore, in return, would respect their employer.
However, I do not see this happening with a man like Captian Torrez as a company supervisor.

This compnay is a joke

AUTHOR: MKThomas - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 03, 2012

The company was called 4 hours before the employee was scheduled to start their shift.

As far as your company requiring a photo in order to successfully be removed from a shift is unheared of.  Never in my 8 years working in security have I heared of someones privacy being violated in such a way. Never the less, the company fired my friend after finding out that somone had spoke their mind about this issue. Not only did they let him go, but they also tried to hold on to a uniform deposit after the uniform was returned cleaned. Upon father review of pay stubs, we also found that this company did not payout all the hours that this employee worked for them. There are a total of 3 hours in pay missing and thats just for one of the pay periods. Needless to say, we are in the process of filing a lawsuite with this company

#4 UPDATE Employee

I am the officer who requested the photo.

AUTHOR: Just an honest Joe - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, February 02, 2012

I am the officer who requested the photo.

For the record, the officer in question, whose name will not be mentioned out of respect, is no longer working for us. The reason does not need to be discussed. I can understand why you would be upset, but to ridicule us or our sales staff is highly unprofessional. We are a company who earns income by having clients, so I ask: why would we turn down the opportunity to gain a new client? Our sales staffs full time job is taking care of new clients and customer concerns. We have two supervisors dedicated to attending meetings and presenting proposals to new clients.

As for the above mentioned former employee, for one, this does not have anything to do with our sales staff. For two, this is a personal incident that occurred with one of our employees. I received a call very shortly before the afore mentioned employee was to start his shift. Per company policy, we required a doctors note to which the employee could not provide. As proof, I suggested a picture to ensure this employee that I could verify the emergency circumstances that would have lead to him calling in.

The former officer of which the above complaint is regarding, was a great employee and very close to the supervisors of our company.  To know that his girlfriend, or friend, who has such negative things to say about his former company, I bet he would be highly embarrassed. I also bet his direct supervisors would be insulted to know such slander exists regarding this
former employee, as well.

This company is very unprofessional

AUTHOR: MKThomas - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 15, 2011

I firmly believe that the person who posted this originally  is telling the truth when it comes to the professionalism of this company. I can only speak for myself and what I have watched someone very close to me go threw while being employed with SSF. Yes, thats right, they treat their employees badly as well. My friend, who had his/her mouth swell up to the size of a golf ball due to a very bad tooth infection, was demanded to take photo proof of his/her mouth to send into this company before he/she could successfully be removed from the shift in order to go the hospital. Please tell me what kind of company does that to their employees? A very unprofessional one.

"This is a Competitor - No Property Manager would write this, they are too professional"

AUTHOR: Special Security Force - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, March 27, 2011

No property manager would write this message. Most property managers are more professional. You are a competitor who has a training academy that is failing and you want to discourage anyone from using Special Security Force. Customer service is #1. Very seldom does any company call and need a guard on site with in 10 minutes or even the same day.

We have patrol drivers 24 hours a day so if we receive a call the patrol supervisor goes to meet with the potentially new client and waits until the on site security officer arrives in uniform.

We have never received a call from any Nick. If you are a property manager that is looking for a guard, why are you on Craig's list where a post for hiring guards is located????

We have several former Police Officers working at the company but not everyone can be a Police Officer. We are a security company not a Police Department.

References are not posted on line, they are shared with the client in private. We make sure each and every client can have a reference in hand so they can call each and every reference to verify our credentials and find out what another client has to say about our company.

Don't hide your identity, tell the world who you are so people can contact you to verify your story if it is true.

RUDE,UNPROFESSIONAL, LIARS,SCAMMERS -- TYPICAL PRIVATE SECURITY GUARD CONTRACTORS

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 26, 2010

YOU SHOULD CALL THAT STATE AGENCY THAT LICENSES THE PRIVATE SECURITY GUARD COMPANIES AND TELL THEM YOU WANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND TELL THEM THE SAME THING THAT YOU WROTE HERE.

I HAVE FRIENDS WHO HAVE A VERY SMALL, ELITE SECURITY GUARD CONTRACTING COMPANY IN SAN ANTONIO,TEXAS, WHO WOULD NEVER THINK OF TREATING A POTENTIAL CLIENT IN SUCH A DEMEANING, MISREPRESENTING WAY!

THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN HONORED THAT YOU CALLED AND GIVEN YOU ONLY TRAINED MILITARY AND FORMER LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EVEN SOME RETIRED FBI PEOPLE TO HANDLE YOUR SECURITY.

AT LEAST YOU WERE NOT STUCK SIGNING A CONTRACT WITH THESE AMATEUR BUFFOONS. THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT OF LAWSUITS.

HOPEFULLY, YOU FOUND SOMEONE MORE ATTENTIVE TO DUTY AND APPRECIATIVE THAT YOU TRUSTED THEM TO PROTECT YOU REAL ESTATE INTERESTS AND REDUCE POTENTIAL LEGAL LIABILITY --AND SAVE ON INSURANCE.
