This was a locksmith service. I called one local# and then they sent me a text from area code 954.    He arrived quickly & said he would drill the lock if he couldn't pick it.  I told the locksmith, "If you can't pick it, I'll call someone else.  They've been picked before." No dollar amounts were discussed.  He struggled with the front door and asked to try the rear door.  He struggled there.  He then requested to try the Florida room and I said no because I was cleaning/rearranging, the door was an antique for which I didn't have a key, and I had valuables out in plain sight that I didn't want him to see (He never asked for ID before trying to enter the house.)   As he continued to struggle with my rear door, I went around the front of the house to call another locksmith farther away.  I told them about the type of locks and they said that no locksmith should ever have to drill such a lock.  I told them I may be calling them back.  At this point, I heard a loud thud.  I went around to the back of the house and noticed significant damage had been done to the area around the lock, but the door was still locked.  I didn't see the locksmith so I walked all the way around the house thinking he may have returned to his car. When I came back, he was on the other side of the opened door trying to move the lock over the hole.  I protested his method and he said he finally managed to pick it.  I said that I didn't authorize damage to a door that cost me $2k but he was nonchalant about it and said it had to be done.   I called the company back and complained.  They requested I send pictures via text.  This failed.  They then had me email Rita Wilson but I just got an automated reply that all sales are final.   

 

The next morning, my attic fan came on and the door to the Florida room opened.  At this point, I noticed that he had broken in through the door I specifically told him to stay away from using the same hammer and flathead screwdriver he had used to damage the other door.  This door, however, would not stay closed, and I found his hammer left on the floor.  I called in and mentioned this.  I don't expect he will return for the hammer any time soon.
