The Spinnaker Marketing team called a while ago, and manage to sell me a package to visit their Florida 'Plaza Ocean Front' hotel at Ormond Beach, FL ( 3 nights, plus $100 Dinning gift certificates for $199 - as Authorized by the Manager !! ). Well, when we got to the hotel, we realized that thare is no 'Plaza Ocean Front' hotel ( "La Plaza" was the nsame she used to refer to it )... but instead, we were checked into Desert Inn .. a smelly old place that probably would rank 2 star ( except that it was on the beach, so people would probably rank it 3 star just because of the beach ! ). NOT at all what we had been promised nor expected. In fact, it was so bad that my wife decided to check out the next day and return home, rather than stay there 3 nights !!. Of course, we complained to Spinnker Sales people the next morning, as they were trying to convince us that they are a GREAT company and we should put down $18K to buy one of their alternate-year condos !!!! Well, they ignored our complaint : "oh, the marketing company is not Spinnker .. they should not have promised you that ... jee, you are the beach anyway, what more do you want ?? .... ". Needless to say, we did NOT buy their timeshare ( and a good thing too ... for I can have the same week for about $6500 on the resale market !! .. and it is every year !! :) ).

Then we checked their $100 Dinning Certificates. First of all, you have to go online and ask for certificates for each restaurant you want to visit ( and they may be sold out for the quarter !!! ) .. then there are many restrictions : Monday to Thursday ONLY .... Must buy at least 2 main dishes for a minimum of $50 ... must pay 18% tip ( even if the service sucks !! ) ... and ohm ,only a few in our zip code .. so must travel to the next city .. a 45-min drive .... So needless to say, they are worthless !! When we complained to Spinnaker, their management basically told us "tough: thanks for the $199" and "go do whatever you want" !!!
Isn'y that breach of Contract ? Do they not have to deliver what they 'promised' they would ? Is there anyone interested to file a class-action lawsuit ? ( I am sure there are many others who were lied to just as we were !! )

The irony is , I liked SPinnaker, and may have bought their timeshare ... but because of this, we walked out ... and I am glad we did ... because I only thought of checking resales after we got out ... and boy, you can get the same Week they sell for about %20 to %25 of what they ask for !!! so we saved $$$$$ and they lost big time ... not to mention any potential business loss due to us telling the world about their deceptive marketing ....

BEWARE : Do not believe their word. Not sure if it is worth anything even when in writing ...

Be very cautious if dealing with Spinnaker

AUTHOR: Stephanie M Indiana - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 25, 2009

I, too, have experienced the $199 vacation "deal". In Florida, Spinnaker set me up in a GROSS hotel (and then showed us the amazing resort). I thought, "NEVER AGAIN". A few months later, we are contacted again. This time they wanted us to visit Hilton Head. I was VERY careful in accepting the deal. I told the reps from the beginning that I wanted to stay in the Player's Club RESORT. They said that was fine. Once the closing manager got on (and the conversation was recorded), he asked me many questions very quickly. One was, "so you are staying at the Player's Club HOTEL". I said, "yes". Since it is recorded and I did say "yes", there is nothing I can do about it. These vacation deals are no deals. Like the above person, DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE! He was a very smart person not to buy. I will NEVER do business with them again. We were, once, seriously considering buying a timeshare from them. Thank goodness for this website because it reconfirms that we are making the right decision not to.
