Purchase a ow ticket on Spirit airlines for $200 on the 6th of May '12. Thought it was a great deal till I got to the airport and got the "shake down." I was scrutinized to see what more $$ they could get from me. "Oh, you have one bag to check?" "That will be $38." This is before I even finished checking in at the keypad. Got to the counter; Your bag is too heavy, it is going to be an extra $50. Is that an extra carry on? That will be $40. Our weight limit is 40 lbs not 50.

So you can get you suitcase down to 40 lbs or that will be $50. Now if I took out containts to make it comply, the extra items I would take in another bag would be extra baggage at $40. Because it would not work, I would be paying $90 to carry extra stuff because the bag could not get down to 40lbs. I would still be overweight. I just paid the $50 and left the stuff in the luggage. Then I get looked over for an additional $40 because of the paperbag I am carrying (containing my sweater and a salad).

I tell the agent I can wrap the sweater around my waist and carry my salad. She leaves me alone. When I get to Las Vegas to get my connecting flight, I go through the scruteny again. "Is that an extra carry on?" I only had the same stuff I landed with. I would not recommend anyone taking this airline unless they are wearing a swimsuit! Then you must really be desperate! They even charge for sodas, coffee/tea! I was really depressed when I got through their checkin and seeing their service. I won't take them again! A8J2HT my confirmation no Flt 858 and 788.

IF you had spent 30 seconds on the internet you would have found out about Spirit Air's scams. Not only do they rape you with baggage and other charges but the configuration of the aircraft is downright CRIMINAL. The seat pitch (basically leg room) is 29 Inches and the seats don't even recline. Just for comparison, the seat pitch on JetBlue is 34 inches. You wanted CHEAP and you GOT CHEAP.

BUYER BEWARE. You got hosed and its your own fault.
