I have been a Sprint customer for a little over two years (28 months to be exact). I have 4 phones activated with the additional equipment insurance coverage provided by Lockline. I have paid $5.00 per month per phone for this coverage. In short, 28 months @ $20 = $560.00 (4 phones @ $5.00)plus $50 deductible = $610.00. I signed up for the equipment insurance coverage plan at the time I purchased the phones & signed the contract. My paperwork states a $35 deductible for lost/stolen phone replacement.

Low and behold, my son lost his phone two days ago. I called to have it replaced and was told it was now a $50 deductible (which Lockline swears they sent me USPS letter stating the price increase, which I did not get), so I said "fine", then they went on to tell me that it would be a "refurbished" phone and not the phone I had and it may not be a camera phone either (which was what I had).

All Lockline could tell me was that they "requested" a comparable replacement phone be sent from their warehouse. I stopped by the local Sprint store this afternoon and the sales rep there said it would have been cheaper for me in the long run if I had forgone the insurance coverage and just signed up for new service (a new 2 year contract) and I would have received a brand new camera phone with extra features for $55.00. Let's see, I would have saved $555.00 doing it that way. Needless to say, I am cancelling the insurance coverage as I feel that it is a BIG rip off for me. I suppose it is good to have if you lose your phone right away - my advice is to cancel insurance coverage after a year and most definitely after your contract expires and if you lose your phone just cancel the service (no cancellation fee as contract is up)and sign a new contract and get a brand new phone for less than what you would have paid for a refurbished phone using the insurance coverage. In a sense, I paid $610 for a refurbished telephone. I learned a lesson here. No more Lockline for me.

MONIQUE AND SHERRY

AUTHOR: Ashlee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 03, 2007

For one Monique you say Sprint gets a lot of complaints about Lockline, why dosn't your supervisor and his supervisor address these complaints and contract a different company? I know you are only one person, but if all the employees would voice thier opinions then maybe they would consider doing something.
Sherry sorry to say but Asurion is a joke. I cancelled my service because I had major issues with your employer, how can you send re-furbished phones when we have paid for brand new phones, paid the monthly fee, and the 50.00$ deduct that's ridiculous.

I have been so unhappy with the service I recieve from customer service reps. I will get about 1 out of 7 reps who actually know what thier talking about and who will actually give me correct information, and why is it that I have to call back 2 or 3 times to make sure the change or whatever request I asked was done? I have leraned over the years to only deal directly with the Sprint store and 1 employee there. Do you think there would be over 40 pages of these reports if Sprint really took care of business? Hell NO

It would be cheaper

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

to just buy the new phone after 2 years anyway. The insurance only makes sense for maybe a year.
$5 x 28 = $140 plus $50 ded is $190.
I guess depending on the phone you have.

Sherri, it's still a rip off!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 06, 2006

Sherri,

Let's say you have a phone for a year and have been paying the $5.95/month and it gets lost. Now you have paid approx $72 and have a $50 deductible to get a refurb phone. That's over $120!

The customer does not get a new phone. And, in many cases, does not even get the same model or even the same brand! Now, the customer cannot use the old chargers, spare batteries, carry clips/cases, etc. All of that now needs to be replaced at customer expense.

What I have learned, and what I have done is just make a phone call to the carrier directly, and ask the rep what they have in refurb phones or discontinued models. I got 1 for $50 and another for $75 another time. And, could use all of the accessories I already had.

And, I know that both Verizon and Sprint will give you another NEW phone for free if you just extend your contract. This is much cheaper and better in the long run.

Get your facts straight

AUTHOR: Sherri - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 05, 2006

Monique should consider getting her facts straight before submitting a rebuttal. I have been an employee of lockline (now Asurion) for several years and Sprint is STILL contracting with us as their insurance provider. Many of these unhappy customers are justified in their displeasure, HOWEVER their anger should be directed at Sprint for providing them with incorrect information. Everything that we do and tell the customer is CLEARLY outlined in their coverage certificate. If they would read them and be aware of what they are paying for, there would be no surprises when they contact us to file claims. Everything that we do is governed by insurance laws. Myself and my co-workers worked very hard to get our Property & Casualty insurance licenses and would not do anything to jeopardize them. Anytime anyone is interested, they can either contact us or log onto our website for a complete copy of our coverage certificates.

Sprint's Relationship with Lockline

AUTHOR: Monique - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 14, 2006

First of all, as an employee and customer I can definately relate to the frusterations with lockline.

Understand, though, that lockline is a 3rd party vendor that Sprint uses and the customer service agents in the store cannot do anything to influence the way Lockline handles their claims. That being said, Sprint has received so many complaints about lockline -- from employees as well as customers -- that we have switched to a new insurance provider.

They are still a 3rd party vendor and Sprint associates in the stores don't have a whole lot to do with how they handle claims, however as customer advocates our store associates do relay concerns to management, which is why lockline was ditched in the first place.

The Hell W/Sprint & Lockline!!!

AUTHOR: Elizabeth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 15, 2005

When Sprint/Lockline were unable(refused) to help me with my problem after giving them my money for about four years I got rid of them. I told them straight out that I would no longer be part of a company that was run by GREED. I am now with another cellular company and could not be any happier with the service that they provide. All my family members have also switched companies after they saw how much stress I had dealing with Sprint/Lockline. Those type of companies do not deserve me, my money,or my time!!!
