Since the beginning of March, I have not been able to hold a conversation on my mobile phone. The calls are dropped or unable to be placed at all.

I have contacted Sprint dozens of times and they are unwilling to let me out of my contract to pursue a carrier that can provide me with the service that I desperately need.

I do not have a LAN line and rely on Sprint to make 911 calls, as I AMA severe asthmatic. When I approached Sprint with this, they advised that if I had read my contract, I would notice that it states that coverage is not guaranteed in all areas. I had coverage before, some expect to have it now as I pay a large amount every month to receive it.

I also live in the suburbs west of Chicago and this service is unacceptable and fraudulent as I am paying for something that I am not receiving and that has Sprint has admitted to not being able to provide me at this time.

Forget the BBB....a waste of time..

Here's the bottom line.

If you are paying for a service, and that service is unacceptable in quality as a reasonable person would expect, you have a legal right to break that contract as Sprint has not held up their end.

Cell phone contracts mean nothing at all from a legal standpoint if there is a quality of service issue.

I have been through this with Sprint and prevailed. They actually removed me from contracts on 2 lines of service and kept the service active without a contract for 4 months until I found another service that worked, and there was a total of 8 months left on the contract altogether.

I informed them in writing that they were in breach of contract as they failed to provide an acceptable level of service to me. I simply told them that they could handle this now, or they could handle it in front of a judge in federal court when I sue them for my damages.

Problem solved.

Any deals you make on the phone must be followed up with a written confirmation. If they won't confirm what they tell you in writing, you will have problems down the road. Get everything in writing.

Do as many written complaints as you can to as many government agencies as you can, but don't waste your time with the BBB as they cannot do anything. Send all written correspondence via certified mail, return reciept requested, and be sure to put the certified # in the body of the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. Be sure to send one to the President/CEO of Sprint, as well as to the board of directors, the FTC, the FCC, etc.

Also try to contact an investigative news channel.

Nobody has to accept less than what they are paying for.

What they don't want you to know.

I had a similar problem with Sprint here in CT (I now have AT&T and no charges from Sprint whatsoever). First contact sprint again and ask for their escalation department. explain the problem to them. Keep a note of how many times you call them, how many times your calls are dropped and where. They may offer you an air-rave card that runs off your wifi at home if you have wifi. iff you don't then scratch that. if you do, make sure you are not being billed for the air-rave or the additional line charge they will try to get you for. Now here comes the goof part. You advise sprint that you are filing complaints with the following (and you must file the complaints) 1. the BBB (you can do that online at BBB.org. 2. Your states Department of Consumer Protection, the FTC (ftc.gov) and the FCC (fcc.gov). once you start the process, they will let you drop them in a heartbeat
