Sprint They billed me a 20% undisclosed "tax" when I asked about it, they said it's a Fed/State tax that I had to pay for using my credit card. Then they told me I can avoid paying Fed/State tax by paying cash in store. I tried to switch carriers and I couldn't because there is a block on transfer by Sprint for an outstanding debt. I contacted Sprint and they said even though I don't owe anything. It's their practice to not release a phone for one year. I own the phone outright but they won't let me transfer to another carrier for one year. Overland Park Kansas

 I was charged a 20% tax on my second bill but not my first. I contacted Sprint and they said it is a Fed/State tax that they have no control over. Then they said I can avoid this tax by paying cash in store. Tax is tax! They said it's a tax I have to pay for using my credit card. They said it's a credit card tax. I tried to switch carriers the next day and was told: Sorry, this phone can’t be activated right now. Sprint says there's an unpaid balance associated with it." I contacted Sprint and they said that although I DON'T have an outstanding bill or owe them anything, they will keep a block on my phone for one year. I asked why, if I own the phone you're holding it hostage for a year and they said it's their "undisclosed policy" So now I have to buy a new phone because my new Sprint phone will only work on Sprint network for a year.
