Spyware Bot Software - Spyware Stop, Software fraudulent & misleading advertising and billing Internet

In January 2006 my computer died and I had a computer expert out to fix it. He recommened Spyware Bot as a good computer security software since it was effective and "you only had to pay for it once." I went to their website and sure enough it said the charge for thier software was a ONE TIME charge. I purchased it, installed it and used if for a little less than a year.

In January 2007, the Spyware Bot software abruptly stopped working. I contacted their tech support via live chat and after over an hour, the tech tells me that my regstration number is no longer working so I need a new one. BUT he can't give me a new one, I have to rebuy the software for thier system to generate a new one BUT that my money will be refunded with in 7 days. So I rebuy the software on January 11, 2007, get a new registration number and the software works again. Tech says I will get my refund with in 7 days.

No refund arrives, so I contact customer support again after 2 weeks. Again by Live Chat because that's all they offer. Spent another hour+ on with this tech only to be told that I have to talk to their Tier 2 tech support and he redirects me to a link for Tier 2 Support. Turns out the ONLY way to contact Tier 2 support is by email. So I did then AND again in a month, AND again in 2 months and again in 2 more months. ZERO reply.

In December 2008 Spyware bot again stops working (big surprise). I contact them again to get told 1)they don't know why it stopped working 2) they don't know why Tier 2 never responded and 3) they can't help me I have to speak to Tier 2 support. Big surprise Tier 2 support continues to ignore my emails.

June 2008, I go to download a program I purchased and Spyware bot downloads instead from a different company's website. Now it is causing my computer to crash. I spend 3 HOURs on live chat with a tech trying to get it off my computer. Then I demand to know why I was charged twice for their program when their site clearly stated it was a ONE TIME CHARGE. Got a bunch of BS, then he tells me that the $39.85 was a one time charge but I have to pay a YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION of an additional $39.85 every year to keep my software working. That is NOT disclosed ANYWARE on their site. After pitching a fit he then tells me I could have paid the ONE TIME FEE of $62 something instead and got UNLIMITED subscriptin which would have only cost me an additonal $2 per month....(meaning paying an additional $24 per year for this unlimited service). None of this was disclosed on thier website. NONE OF IT.

So I told him since I felt they had committed fraud by falsely saying it was a ONE TIME CHARGE, I wanted my money back for (both $39.85 fees) as I NEVER would have purchased thier product if I had known about the reoccuring fees. Guess what, now I have to contact Tier 2 tech support AGAIN, which I did AGAIN with ZERO reply.

I clicked the little box on the live chat session to have a copy of the live chat emailed to me and huge surprise IT WASN'T. Luckily I had copied and pasted most of the live chat into another program since I had a big suspicion that they wouldn't send me a record of their confusing contraditions and double talk. I also printed out their main page which stated that it was a ONE TIME FEE and SATISFATION GUARANTEED.

They have since changed thier name (from Spyware Bot to Spyware Stop) and removed the ONE Time charge lure from their main page. However that does not negate the fact that they lied on their website, lied in their live chats to get additional money from me, then lied so they could keep my money, refused to refund or back up their satisfation guaranteed claim and refused to respond to my inquires or complaints.
